I have many friends that have been long time tokers. For years they have been toking on a regular basis. But I think we've all come to the point and time in our life, when marijuana just doesn't hold the same things that it used to in the beginning. I've stopped toking during the week for several reasons. I can't afford it, I'm trying to get into shape, and slowly but surely the negative side effects have started to outweigh the benefits.
But I'm a smart girl. I'm not going to replace one drug habit with another, unlike many people I know. I have friends that brag of not toking pot or drinking anymore, but they go through coke like nothing. Do they not realise how ridiculous and sad they are making themselves out to be? From pothead to cokehead, what comes next when the novelty of it all wears off and they are jonesing for a new fix?
A very close friend of mine, who used to smoke like a freaking chimney doesn't toke during the week anymore either. I'm proud of him, I thought he was a lifer(not that there is anything wrong with that, but I think everything in moderation). But now all he does on the weekend is go to the club, and pop 3 pills. He gets too fucked up to dance, too fucked up to talk. And he sketches out for the rest of the weekend. I've tried coke once(ew), and I've done E a few times as well. But jumping from one habit to another, one drug to the next, is a very dangerous game. A dominoe effect is created, and sometimes you can't stop it until they've all fallen down. And then, you've got to start from square 1 and try and pick up the pieces.
I'm not saying pot is terrible or bad, hell, I still love the ganj and most likely will for a long time. But use your head, you've only got one body, one mind and one soul. A drug is a drug, and you have to be aware of the dangers involved with it. I'd hate to see another stoner turned cokehead, turned E-tard, turned Meth-head roaming the streets. It's Sad dammit!

like you said everything in moderation. i don't necessarily believe going from one drug to another is a problem as long as you understand the consequences. there are people who have an addictive personality, but then there are people that could use a drug and not get hooked on it. but then i believe using drugs recklessly is bad. i believe as long as you don't allow the drug to run your life you could be fine. i smoke weed to guide my life to who i want to be. i might end up trying other drugs, possibly shrooms and lsd, and maybe some others, but i know that i can be in control of my life.

it is sad when people have problems. i was an alcoholic by time i was 16. won't go into much depth here, but it was really bad. i will not allow any of my friends to fall into an addiction. and i will not allow them to ruin there life.

I'll never grow tired of bud; and when I do, I'll take a break from it. In fact, I love my small circle: bud, LSD, mushies and very occasional DXM. I'm interested in PCP and opium, but most likely won't make them a habit.

Marijuana as the gateway to harder drugs is a crock of shit! There have been numerous statistical associations that the govt has had do evaluations on this subject(including the DEA)and all have managed to leave out one major factor, the "percentage of marijuana users that do not move on to harder drugs." They are quick to point out the users that do while failing to give the % of these that have addictive personalities which lead to the continueing use of hard drugs thus eleviating MJ as a gateway.Yet another scenario that the govt does not give the whole story in a effort to decieve!

id say that reefer has aided in my use of other drugs.....but with every drug i try i research it extensivly and then i try a small amount. I stay away from systhetic drugs except LSD. X is too dangerous for me to do, because im allergic to codeine i.e. and opiate, and many times X can have opiates in it and youll never know. so i play it safe. but other drugs you just cant make a habit of.

Yah that is true Marijuana is a gateway drugs. Everyone first drug is marijuana because no one would do anything eles beside that. I say the second drug is Meth because i know alot of people that blaze it and later on do Meth. That burns your nose. MY first drug was weed and I hit it out of a 2 chamber Bong and that rips awsome.

mean green is right it is a crock of shit. but its the person that makes it a gateway drug. if coke was an easier less expensive drug that was more mainstream it too would be labeled gateway. its just alot of people like to go onto more things. they wnat a "better" high.
but its a good thing you brought up Sunnie. i dont want my friends or people close going down that road. in fact my friends made a pact with me i wouldnt try to commit suicide again , and they wouldnt use injector drugs ( like heroine) or sniffers ( cocaine).

    Sunnie, I agree 100%

When I am trying to get off the coke.. I smoke more.. Its one thing or another.. It is terrible..

Also.. I think people who think Marijuana is not a gateway drug are just being irrational.. For the most part.. Marijuana is the "gateway" drug into the drug scene/circle.. Which leads to influences to try harder/other drugs..

marijuana has totally been a gateway drug for me. I think the fallacy here is that 'gateway' is a bad thing. It totally depends. Like.. I've done shrooms a few times, and some other things (laced pot), but... I'm not addicted to anything. I smoke pot like a few times month now as opposed to my past 20-joints-a-day thing. And I treat trips not as thrills but as well.. learning experiences lol

A week ago, I started smoking just pure honey oil now that i can get it, and already i'm realizing that im loosing the buzz that i once got from pot. I fear that im on the road to other drugs, so im going to stop buying herb and oil and only toke with other people who already are going to smoke. I definatly think MJ is a gateway drug, no matter what statistics say.

    "You're on your own now
Your little zone you were born alone and believe me you'll die alone
    Weed becomes a chore
You want the buzz back so you follow the others onto smack
Just trying to stay positive... "

Ocean Bryd, I would definately not rule out opium if you're going to be using DXM. I don't recommend the use of DXM...I've down it about 3 times but realized that it's really bad for you. Opium isn't nearly as bad if you can be careful about it. It's important that you are careful with opiates.
