We have to murder and change for freedom but for peace we are all one happy family. All are in unison, things are fluid, and nothing is being demanded. All is balanced. Freedom is a ask for an extreme that you most likely don't need when peace is the other option. Peace my friend.
Colours, aren't you arguing for animal rights. Well what if an animal is at peace up until it's killed. Just curious. Does this thread include animals or just people?
Good, good. I'm starting to get more into animal rights. I guess I'm softening up. I can blame Colours for that.
I would take peace over freedom. with freedom comes the choice of not being peaceful and happy. Seriously, I would rather have a set of rules that let me be peaceful and happy instead of all the fighting to have rights that aren't protected anyway. Look at America. we are fighting for peace and freedom for Iraq, but it has caused more pain and death than before when there were a strict set of rules. I'm not saying Saddam was a great leader, he was awful and did need to be removed, but the people were more peaceful then. No one blew themselves up everyday to make a point. I would cover my face and body and not be educated as long as I was left with the simple things I need to live (food, housing) and I could create the happiness in my mind. It's all about how you can view a situation. I could make myself quite content in a strong governmental society. Sounds weird I know. I expect many of you disagree.
cut my hair and shine my shoes keep on singing the blues as long as I can stay here in johnny's garden
With no freedom there can be no peace. and if there is not peace, there is no freedom. I guess I prefer peace, but I don't feel I can deny the right to struggle to be free. To enslave another person is ugly, and there is no peace there. After living relationally free, it would be difficult to be without freedom. I was in prison and it made me so angry to take orders from some stupid people, no good people. Peace should be our aim, but not any kind of peace. We have to respect every individual, and all the peoples. Peace between the master and the slave; peace in a prison full of innocent people; peace in the deathcamps of the nazis. Who takes away freedom of another is already violent, there is no peace there.
Diogenes, awesome post. I don't think you can really have one without the other. If you do not have freedom of self you cannot have peace of self... and if you do not have peace in yourself, you can never truly be free.. not in the ways that really matter.
Peace is a state of mind, formed around an opinoin that you choose, no one else, but without freedom your limited to things that might prohibit your state of peace so with freedom comes peace like acid that makes you trip.
