I keep wondering if the movie " Rocky " has anything to do with the real boxer Rocky Marciano who is no longer with us. I'm not sure though, it just came into my head and I had to see if anyone knew the truth to this.
The film makers no doubt hoped that we would wonder if there was a connection. But there wasn't. Rocky Marciano's career was nothing like Stallone's 'Rocky'. 'Rocky', is, or was, simply a popular name for boxers.
It may have simply been a tribute to Marciano from Stallone, because they're both of Italian origin and unless I'm mistaken he was the only heavyweight boxer in history who remained undefeated throughout his career. My favorite of all time, I must say, is Ali. A very inspiring man.
