Would you rather be blind or deaf?

If you had to choose between the two, what would it be? Most people I have asked this say that they'd rather be deaf. I would actually rather be blind. I would hate to lose my sense of hearing. There would be no more music, and no more conversation. I don't think I could deal with it.

I would want to be deaf. At least I could see and still communicate. I would miss music but if I've never heard it before I won't know what I'm missing.

Not having my site I'd would fail to see the beauty in the world, at least not in the extent that I have.

    I agree with peanuts.

Try blindfolding yourself for a whole day and then just wear ear plugs the next, I would imagine that experience would speak for itself.

I'd rather be deaf. At least with deafness you can learn to read lips, and learn sign language. You can still see where you're going - you aren't putting your life into peril on a daily basis. I could live without music... it would be unfortunate, but I could do it. I don't think I could live without being able to see that truck headed directly towards me, or be able to see what I'm doing at my job.

Definitely deaf. Not being able to hear would be unpleasant, especially if you could hear and then lost your hearing...but being blind would be awful. Imagine not being able to drive, not being able to see your children...

    Blind.

My eyes are closed half the time for one reason or the other.
Blindness heightens One's other senses to greater degrees than deafness...

At least someone agrees with me. And who says beauty has to rely on sight? I've heard many more beautiful things than I've seen. I've felt many beautiful emotions. Imagine never being able to hear someone tell you that they love you. Or only being able to sign it to them. I would rather have conversations with the people I love than be able to see them. Deafness would close you off to the world on so many levels. How many people are you going to meet that would be willing to learn sign language for you? You would really never get to know anyone else's personality. To me, choosing to be deaf is somewhat shallow. But that is only my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.
