A runner wants to run 100 meters. He must however, first run 50 meters. But, before that, he has to go 25 meters. Since space is infinitely divisible, we must repeat these measurements forever, down to .00000000000000000000000000000000000000001 meters and inifinitely smaller. The runner must reach an infinite amount of midpoints in a finite amount of time, which is impossible. He can never reach his goal. Is motion impossible?

its not impossible because we have all seen it happen and probably participated in it ourselves, 100 meters is a measurement of distance, a fixed measurement of distance i might add, as a runner passes these infinite waypoints so to speak, they are added up and motion just doesnt apply to runners, what about sitting down or grabbing a beer? that all required movement, which is motion....... get it?

I see what you are trying to get at but the actaul distance isn't infinite.

Every thing you can concieve of is both infinitely big and infinitely small. These concepts are relative, just as are space and time.

you may have infinte midpoints but theyre infinitely small as well.

so does that mean that you dont exist?

Im not saying motion doesnt exist at all. I meant to say it could be just an illusion that we see and experience.
And heres another example. Two cars are colliding. Using the same theory above (actually called Zeno's Paradox), do they ever collide? And if nothing ever collides because it doesnt move, it doesn't exist. Those 2 ccars came from metal ores in the ground. If the ores never collided with the ground or with whatever picked them out of the earth, they could never have made the 2 cars. If you apply the theory to even smaller objects, such as atoms, protons, quarks etc. does anything exist at all?
