hello. i am 16 and i hate the way things are now. Im a hippie but i go to a private school because my parents made me but im not into religion. I dont wanna be super rich with a mansion and 10 sports cars. I would rather live in the country with my hippie van or somethin...i do good in school but i do hate conformity and dont really accept what society considers to be "cool" or anything. I hate todays music, clothes, etc. I wanna life MY life the way I want to. What should i do?? btw, sorry for being so negative in that but i kinda need help...Peace

My advice would be to not do anything at the moment. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but it is impossible to be a nonconformist, because to be a "nonconformist" you must conform to someone's standards of what a nonconformist is. Living your life for the sake of being different is no way to live. Sounds like you have a good future ahead of you. Please make the most of it. -Kate
What to do about what?? All you're doing is complaining about private school and society.... You don't have a choice at the moment. (Unless, of course, you run away from home) So make the best of what you have and stop whining over it! Just because you go to a private school doesn't mean you have to believe in anything they do (I went to one) and it doesn't show that you believe in the same things. Going to a private school doesn't mean you want to be super rich and what-not. It doesn't mean you have to agree with society. I think your main problem is that you're worrying someone might think of you as normal instead of what you want them to think of you. So...just make the best of your experience, or you're going to keep having a shitty time in life because you're too worried about whining about the things you WISH you had.
I agree with moon_flower... go to the school and try to make the best out of it. While you're there, try to make it a better place as far as closedmindedness and conformity goes... share your views... you gotta start somewhere.
you have been given a better chance than most, don't bloody blow it i went to a comprehensive, i'm working class. i worked hard to get my grades, but i know i could do better you have that oportunity, you have the power to make things better for people like me, to get far in this world and help people who haven't had such a good start in life get far don't be some trustafarian, living off parents and flunking in school. do your best, and help others achieve their dreams
Here: Do good in school, get a kickass job that YOU LIKE (don't be a lawyer if you don't want to), and when you move out, do what you like. Act how you want (with limits of course), live how you want. It's awesome you have all that, but I think it's really admirable that you grow up with all that, and still be the person you are. Good job friend Help who you can, don't drop your values and dreams! That's what I have to do everyday. My parents tell me every once in awhile about me not being a hippie and I have to agree with them and tell them I'm not so we don't have arguments. But inside I'm saying with wholehearted rebellion '......You'll never change me.....'
