Sounds like a great tour to take. I think you guys will really dig. The castle tour sounds cool too. I think I might be going to Haarlem that day so I'll to play it by ear as to whether or not I can join you, but the offer is much appreciated.

Watch out for taking shrooms around a bunch of strangers that aren't. Could be more than you bargained for once they start kicking, especially if you go for something strong like the Hawaiians. Damn, I don't know if I could even have operated a bike on the ones I did last year!

Start thinking of a route and shops for that Coffeeshop Crawl and we can discuss further. If you've got a tram pass then we can have carte blanche with ANY shop we want to raid, but it'd be nice to get a plan set before we get there as plans usually are hard enough to keep once there much less making them.

BTW, ANYone who is around for Queensday and the days before and after are welcome to join in the fun! First round of vapos on me!

Sounds good to me. Ive seen a couple of your threads here. Im arriving on Queens day around 830am. Should be crazy, will catch train to Centraal Station then walk to hotel. Never been for Queens day, seen videos and pics of prior years.

The Coffeeshop Crawl sounds awesome. Would like to meet up, would like to party hard. Need this trip bad.

Ill be there 4/30 to 5/6. Chat with ya later.

I know what you mean about the schrooms and straight people, the more I think about the more I think I'll just wait till later that day when we meet at the dekuil. But if I do I'll just do the mexican ones. lol A plan for the coffeshop crawl is much needed in order to go in the right direction and not hitting the same coffeeshops, man I don't know how many times I found myself walking in circles in that city. Well maybe not circles, more like scribbly lines lol

mikeymike, what's up? where you staying at? my houseboat is close to the central station on waals eilands canal towards niewmarkt area. lets all hook up for a queens day shin ding or what ever you call it. lol later

Im staying at the Vijaya. Im on a budget for this trip plus I must have checked 20-30 hotels, alot were booked already and the others were too pricey.

They had 2 rooms left, i got a 5 person room for 6 nights for $780 euro.
When I went in 2000 ,2001 i booked thru a TA and got all inclusive deal, hotel, airfare, breakfast the whole deal.

    Stayed at The Sofitel.

This time I think Ill get a tram pass, I walked everywhere last time. Houseboat sounds sweet. Lets meet up for sure.

Im arriving on Queens day, taking train to central station, at least thats the plan. Trains should still be running. I should be at cental station around 9-10am. Streets are going to be packed but hey should be interesting.

Also, wear something orange is the queens day thing? Let me know.
    Talk to ya later.

we'll have to get together for sure, a bunch of us are hooking up that friday at dekuil and I'm sure we'll get together for queens day.....sort of planning a houseboat party on queens day later that day. Got the place for 850 euros for a week. Sport some orange for sure on queens day....it was easy to get orange clothes for me since I'm a syracuse orange fan. GO ORANGEMAN!!! later mikeymike mike o

intricity, did you use a digital camera for your pics? If you did, do you know where we can download onto CD's. Do they have that service in their film stores?

Yeah, it's an old Sony Mavica that uses floppy disks. I'll have it again this year, along with my old VHS-C video cam. The dark ages were (are) a grande time!

Not sure where to get CD's made as far as the photo shops go. I was actually going to ask around as to where I could upload pics to the web via floppy disks in the Dam. Likely from Kinkos but for how much? I ain't gonna sweat it. There are more important things to do in Amsterdam than upload pics, but if it's feasible cool.

    See Ya Soon!

    things to consider

    a. route
    b. group size (need big coffeeshop to chill in...but could always stop at the small ones to by gear along the way)

    OPTIONS

if we start at de kuil, we could walk west to coffeeshop anyday (pick up only), turn south one block to chocolata (pick up only), continue west two blocks to amnesia (chill here), head south one block to grey area (pick up only), turn east two blocks to homegrown fantasy (chill here). That would be a great tiny circuit! under 10 blocks total for the whole circuit. totally could do it walking around together in a fun group (trams will be packed)

the further southbound route would be to take the tram to damsquare hit up abraxas, kadinsky, tweede kamer, damprking, and bushdoctor. (the noon is still a bit far from here but is a personal favorite) There is much more walking involved and trams are preferable on this route.

I like the walking route better. its a neat little circle with a few places that are large enough to accomodate us on it....and a bunch of great pick up spots in between.

I'm all up for this Coffeeshop Tour. It sounds like a well thought out , minimal hassle excursion.

Queensday won't work for me but I'm ALL up for taking this tour post-De Kuil meet on the 29th. We could really make an evening out of it at this rate.

Glad to hear the 29th works. Knowing how packed De Kuil gets after 5p it's nice to have a plan as to where the party can roll next.

After looking at the map I couldn't have called the route better.

Chocolata - Amnesia - Grey Area (closes at 8pm) - Homegrown Fantasy

Seeings how there's a Tram stop right outside of Homegrown Fantasy I suggest whoever is up for it, as group we head to The Waterhole down in Leidseplein for some live music. Of course we're talkin' Rock N' Roll.

Sounds like an evening to me. Whoever else is up for this pipe in with your comments as to whether or not you can swing and/or are interested in this.

I doubt it's gonna be Country as we know it. Country Rock in Netherlands terms seems to translate to Southern Rock, for which I'm all about. It was simply a suggestion though. That's where I'm headed. Whoever is inclined is welcome to tag along.

The Paradiso has London Calling happening if that's your thing. A bunch of new bands from England in different veins. Tickets are under 20 euro.

The Waterhole is a Rock Club and I highly doubt you'll see a true "country" band playing on Queensday Eve of all nights. Believe me, if that was the case I'd never have suggested it. In addition, their frosty pints are the shite from what I hear!

Look forward to seeing you guys to get primed for whatever we all end up doing in the end. Hang in there mikeymike!

Well if it turns out to be lame country then there's always the Paradiso a hop and skip away. There is actually some Alt. Country stuff that is fairly cool but who knows? "Classic rock covers in a country flavoured style." sounds like it could be fun.

That said, that's just me though. I personally wouldn't be down with a Techno scene so I can understand if some people aren't into it.

There's a few other clubs in the area including Bourbon Street Blues Club and the Melkweg. Queensday Eve should be hoppin' down Leidseplein way.

Any other suggestions for the evening hours?

i'm down with the last waterhole. the place isn't known to have country but rather rock, blues and southern rock. all of which I like....techno/club in my opinion is blows, but thats just me. I'm a rocker at heart. couple of weeks to go people!!!! I like the crawl plan after the dekuil meet and maybe work our way up to a good place to hang and par-tay!!
