My wonderful friend Sal just sent me a story i wrote ages and ages ago, if you want to read it, here it is some of it's kinda weird....i think i had just fallen in love... Tale of the Catacombae City Kai stood on the brink of the catacomb opening, and remembered he had sworn never to attempt what he was going to do again. If it worked, many people would be saved, and he would be an international hero. He wasn't interested in the fame part of saving lives though, which wouldn't have been right. Dais came running towards him, she screamed as she saw the catacomb and it's shadows mysteriously and painstakingly slowly unfolding beneath them as their eyes adjusted to it's inky blackness. Kai was facing the opening catacomb and he slowly turned around to look Dais in the eyes. He took a long, deep breath and said. "Dais, I'm going to tell you something that I hope you'll never forget, because I have never said it before and I believe now is the best time ever." He paused to take a breath; he didn't have to go over what to say in his mind, he'd rehearsed this moment hundreds, maybe thousands of times, and much to his own reluctance. He continued; "I grew up at the same time as you, but we were hundreds of miles apart the whole time, we didn't even know of each others existence. A few years ago, we met and when I saw you my world turned upside down. You make the day beautiful. You do, I say this with all my heart. When I first laid my eyes on your face the sun seemed to shine brighter, and the air was clearer, even this foul disgusting air that mankind has created. Now I'm going down into the bowels of this poor planet to do a job have to do. I feel it is my duty, there is no-one else who knows the way." Kai grabbed Dais by the hand and spoke quieter. "I love you more than words can say, I have loved you since I saw you, I will always love you, no one else could possible love you as much as I do. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, I live and pray that I still can some day. I love you, Dais. Goodbye." Kai stepped backwards off the ground and his body tore down into the catacomb, leaving behind Dais sobbing and broken, the only sound was the wind rushing over the giant openings in the Earth, creating huge bass notes that mournfully echoed over the plains. Black is not a colour, it doesn't appear in the rainbow. Some people would say it's a shade, some people would say it's an emotion. Kai didn't know what it was, he just knew that it ate into his very being, laughed at him, taunted him as he fell. He didn't know what he was looking for, he only knew that he would find it, and he would discover what it was when he found it. That fact, in a sense was enlightening and he was at peace to know that he would find it. The thing is though, how would he know when it had happened? Maybe someone would tell him what it was; though he doubted very much that there was anyone else down the eternal pipeline that was the catacomb entrance. Kai believed that anything was possible, if you wanted it enough. Kai fell for days, months and years. He grew old. He went into a coma from lack of food, nutrition and love. His long dark hair turned silver, he still breathed. He saw the Black, but didn't see because there was nothing to see. He could have seen it though, if there had been something to contrast from the Black. Like White. One night, where it was dark on Earth as well as dark in the catacomb, Kai stopped falling. He didn't hit the ground; he just stopped. He hung in the air, if it was air, and just, was. Very slowly, too slowly, the Black turned into not-Black. It wasn't White, but he could see. He didn't know what he was seeing, it was too early for that. Kai just saw. In fact, what he saw would have made the artists of the Earth paint, the songwriters write, and the reporters of the Earth wish themselves there, which would have been stupid, because it wasn't the safest place in the Earth to be at the moment. Kai's eyes saw thousands of tiny lights coming towards his face and body, surrounding him. The lights were. They enveloped him in their radiance. They were White, opposites repel. He fascinated them, they absorbed themselves into his skin, and into his bones. Slowly he began to awake from his slumber. He had been brought back from the dark by this strange being. This was the Faerie, and they had never seen anything like Kai before. The Faerie led Kai into a chamber through a door in the wall. From all of his studies of the catacombs this scenario had never even been dreamt of. Kai was fully awake now, he did not realise how many years he had been asleep, how he had changed. The temperature should have been deathly hot, enough to melt rock, but it was mildly warm. He looked at his thermometer on his watch, the temperature was 37 ½° the exact temperature that the human body is comfortable at. Something down here had studied mankind, just as he hadn't studied this being. From his knowledge of geology and of the Earth in detail, Kai deduced that he was no longer on Earth. He couldn't have been; if he had been, the intense heat and pressure would have crushed his body. No more Kai. But there he was, alive, well and thinking. He must have travelled through some sort of wormhole in space, a tear in the fabric of space and time. He had arrived here. Where was here? No clue on or off Earth, dude. The Faerie cared for him for days and days, they looked after his soul, kept it from going mad. They didn't know it, and neither did Kai, but they were triggering the very thoughts that kept him sane, but also making him sad. They kept making him think of Dais, and the love he'd left behind. As he remembered Dais, the atmosphere around him and the Faerie grew cold. Icy. The more Kai thought about not having her near, the more he thought about her all the time. The Faerie didn't want him to be unhappy, they didn't understand, or if they did, they understood better than even he. So they took Dais away from his soul, they deleted her. Now Kai didn't realise that she'd gone, because he no longer knew who Dais was. The atmosphere warmed. The ice melted and became streams. Streams that flowed endlessly, like a flower crying out for it's lost partner. Kai moved into a lost state of spirit. He no longer knew what he was or what he was doing. He mislaid his mind. Kai invited the Faerie to mislay their mind too. The Faerie said yes, but only because that's what Kai wanted to hear. Really they just watched as he sunk further into depression and slowly disappeared beneath the waves of sorrow. Welcome to the Catacombae City, Kai. After Kai had plunged into the catacomb, Dais shut herself away in loneliness and cried herself to sleep over and over and over again. Night after night she dreamt of Kai falling away from her, never to return. Sometime after this feeling had grown so unbearable that the only thing Dais could think to do was to go out into the fields and be with Earth. Dais picked a single white rose, held it aloft and whispered "Kai, if you can see me then show me you are still here." In the Catacombae City, Kai was troubled. He was feeling something call his soul, he was tempted to stand up, but if he stood up then all the pieces of order would fall back onto the floor of disorder. He stood up anyway. Suddenly all the pieces of order smashed to the floor and spelt out 'disorder'. He collapsed onto the ground with sheer exhaustion and loneliness. He heard the call again, his soul heard it too. After all it is the soul that makes a man a person. He looked up at 'disorder' spelt out in front of him. A single White rose was blossoming out of the middle of the 'd'. Kai stared at it, maybe a hint of tiny recognition on his face. Then no, the recognition was gone, the rose died. He picked the pieces up and started to form order instead of creating disorder by not concentrating. The Faerie didn't realise what they had done to Kai, if it had, then it would have set him free months ago. The only little flaw in the plan was, they were addicted to Kai. It had taken centuries for the Faerie to find Mankind, and the Faerie had lived on the Earth for years and years, until the majority of the Human Race stopped believing with the introduction of computers, games, television, radio, aeroplanes, cars, hi-tech toys and strange, mutations of natural weather. The Faerie retreated to another place. Kai thought it was another planet, he thought it up until the day that the Faerie told him he was wrong, very wrong. "You are not on another planet, you are still on Earth, but this is Earth in the future, the core of the planet has died, it is a cold, hard rock with earthquakes and storms, trying to shake the life that hurts it off it's surface. So Kai, you are not on an alien planet. You are on Earth, and we believe that this is Earth just one hundred years into the future. Is it so hard to imagine? At the rate you are all going at the moment, the oil supplies will run out in about forty years. And we have been repairing the ozone layer, slowly but surely. You need us mankind, you need the Faerie." Kai, click. He didn't know what he was looking for, he only knew that he would find it, and he would discover what it was when he found it. He had found the Faerie, to save Mankind, we needed the Faerie to help. Dais didn't give up easily, she tried every day with the rose, but unsuccessfully. She called to the wind, and to the sea, and finally the stars and the ground. Several beings heard and answered her plea. First came the bird. A giant dove swooped out of the sky and landed beside her. "I am here, Miss Dais, for what do you require my service?" "Oh please, please try and find my lover, Kai" Without a word the dove spread it's mighty wings and beat the air into shreds as it flew away, a white rose in it's beak. Second came the dolphin. The dolphin swam up to Dais sitting on the beach and said "I am here, Miss Dais, for what do you require my service?" "Oh please try and find my lover, Kai" The dolphin turned and cut the water up with it's dorsal fin as it started it's search for Kai, a white rose in it's mouth. Third came the stars. "We do not give help to situations like yours, Dais, we are sorry. We offer advice though. Seek Kai in the Catacombae City." Just then a shooting star flung itself across the night sky, burning up into a red tail and scorching its cosmic tattoo around the sun. Dais said, "oh thank you all of you, you are a great help to me and wonderful friends!" The Dove, dolphin and stars all continued in the search for Kai. The Earth however, had started its quest long before Dais had asked for its help. The White rose blossomed once again, it's roots stretching through time and space. It was the only thing that could help Kai, although the Dove, dolphin and stars were searching, searching. You see, the rose was part of the Earth, and the Earth had already been through all the time it had. It knew where it was going to end up, what was going to happen to it. It also knew exactly where Kai was. The Faerie got a shock. Kai was unhappy still. After all it's efforts, Kai was not satisfied, The Faerie decided to give Kai back his mind, and help the White rose on it's journey for him. Kai saw and knew what he was seeing, he stood up and knocked the letters of order away, this time they didn't fall into disorder, they spelt Dais, and the White rose blossomed out of the 'D'. Kai's heart jumped, he knew! He bent down and kissed the rose. Dais bent down, and kissed the rose on the ground, cupping it in her hand. At that moment, Dais and Kai were one, even though they did not know it themselves. They had been apart for so many, many years. Kai knew at once that he had to get back to Dais and to the present Earth. The Faerie felt his thoughts and started to answer in their own way, they surrounded Kai, this time talking and murmuring to him all the time while they wrapped him and sealed him in a cocoon suspended from a tall tree. Kai could see out, but he could not talk. He only had one thought in his head: Dais. Dais had no idea where Kai was, of course she wasn't to know that the question was not 'where' but 'when'. When was Kai? She called for Kai over the mountains, the call travelled through space and time, it was so truthful and passionate. The Faerie had found Dais, they surrounded her and cocooned her and suspended her from a small tree, but this time, one hundred years before Kai, although this happened exactly at the same time. It had to happen that way, in order to work. Kai saw many weird and disturbing things from inside the cocoon, but nothing and no-one disturbed him. No one looked at him or spoke to him, they couldn't see or feel his presence. No weather shook the cocoon, he was safe. Kai stayed in the cocoon for an unimaginable length of time and the Faerie rebuilt his soul and made him young again. Since the Faerie were re-stitching the fabric of Space and Time to their own specifications, a lot of things were unimaginable. Kai didn't understand where the Faerie had come from originally, some of the things like this on Earth we are not meant to understand. The way the Faerie wanted things to work was almost impossible to explain, Kai believed that nothing was impossible, The Faerie had cocooned Kai and marooned him in Time and Space so he didn't move anywhere, he didn't age, and he stayed in the same place. The difference with Dais is that although the Faerie had cocooned her also, they had only marooned her in Space, and her body moved through Time while staying in the same place. Dais was suspended from a small tree somewhere on Earth. Gradually, her small tree began to grow and grow. After one hundred years, the tree from which she was suspended had grown taller and more majestic than the other trees around. Dais's tree also had another cocoon suspended from it now, she had caught up with Kai, one hundred years after they had parted. The two cocoons separated themselves from the tree and floated to the ground. Kai and Dais slowly, painstakingly slowly, escaped the shells they had been held in for a long, long time. As they turned around and saw the ravaged planet they had arrived at, they saw each other for the first time in one hundred years, and the sun began to rise on another beautiful day.
hehe thanks man, i just remembered something too, on the old forums there was someone called Dais however it's not about her, i wrote it shortly after falling in love with Luchi (chickabean) Jaz
Yea you wrote it before you met her properly. I remember you showing it to me. i think you had just found someone your heart was yearning for but it wasnt Luchi... i cant remember who it was though. But it is as i said at the time stunning... it gives me such a creative craving inside and a wish for so much that i cant put into words. .... emotions are so hard to shape.... they can only be felt. ...annoying that. But yes i love it now as much as i did when i last read it.
of course you like it it is the greatest work of fiction that has ever set page upon this planet!!!!!!! by Jaz anyhow. that i have seen. (so far..) i like it too.
