im not sure if this is the best forum to put this in but oh well. ive pretty much worn my body thin and have frequent sore throats, stomach problems, energy loss, etc. i want to "detox" my body and flush out the bad stuff and super boast the good stuff. does anyone have any advice for me? thanks.
Drink lots of water. There are also some detox teas that are available out there. In your diet add lots of fiber and try to stay away from overly fatty foods and things that are real processed and full of presertives. Check out some Ayurveda medicine on detoxing. Its style of detoxing seems to fit best with what I have learned in biochemistry.http://www.naturalhealthweb.com/articles/suresh3.html This place seems to have some good detox info.
now, this is my method so it may not be the best for you, but a very wise woman i respect very much taught me this method of cleanin' myself out... try a juice fast, if you can afford to buy a juicer and fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. that is how i clean myself out 4 times a year. i just do it on my days off so i don't have to deal with being at work and flushing my system. i tend to have 2 days off at a time, so it works out for me. i start the fast after work the day before my day off. then i keep going for the next two days. drink fresh juice when you get hungry and drink at least 64 oz. of water, if not more. more is better. then, the day after the fast when you can eat again, only eat fresh, raw fruits and veggies, and eat slowly and gingerly so you don't shock your stomach. the day after that, eat only soup broth with no salt (if you can get ahold of this) or low-sodium failing that, fruits, veggies, and plain brown rice. i usually do this bland diet thing for a few days before eating my normal stuff. then what you wanna do is starting drinking detox tea on a weekly basis for maintainence, and take vitamins to keep your immune system strong. also, cut out drugs, alcohol, cigs, etc. while on this fast and for a couple weeks after. definitely cut out all over-proccessed foods, refined sugars, wheat, gluten, trans-fat, cholesterol, etc. also, if you do smoke, quit when you feel ready. that will really help with the whole running your body ragged. i drink and smoke the jaweeda on occasion, but since i stopped doing it regularly, my quality of life has gone up considerably good luck!
haha, im not fat but i REALLY dont need to gain any weight. lol. and i dont do drugs but i do drink. oh, and i smoke some herb now and again.
thanks cornball and sona. sona.. i DEFIANTLY think im gonna do what you do. it sounds like it's good. im just gonna wait til i quit smoking FIRST... it seems kinda pointless for me to start the detox while i still smoke nasty-ass cigs. thanks again, both of you.
have you ever done a fast before? every now and then i do a juice fast, like sonador said above. only do it when you haven't got anything on your agenda, like on a quiet saturday or something, not when you've got work or school or something. i dilute fresh fruit juices 1/2 with water and drink lots all day, maybe go for a walk for a couple of hours or something, nothing too strenuous. i generally only do 1 day fasts, but some people do it for the weekend. in any case, it really makes a difference to me... i really feel it by the time night falls. check out some fasting information on the web maybe. peace, sophia
while you are cutting down, consider a mono-diet. that's where you have the same fruit (usually) for a few days for all meals and snacks. I sometimes use apples, sometimes grapes. And lots of water. a juice fast is the next step. Beet is a great cleanser. I had a chemical problem years ago and really didn't shake the blahs until I detoxed after quitting cold turkey. You can kick cigs. I kicked smack. now a fast is an occasional "break" for my system. weekends can do a lot ! just be in a position to hang around the house and chill. Also search for master cleanse. Tribe.net has a cleansing board that I found fairly helpful.
Actually, if you are trying to quit smoking, fasting/detox may be beneficial during the process of quitting. You can try a juice fast if you wish. As a beginner, that may be easier for you. You can also fast for a whole day drinking only tea (no honey, no sugar) or water.
