I am 15 years old and attend a catholic high school over-run by right wing ultraconservative nuts. I have just recently accepted my call as a hippy, my mother was a hippy, I live in the country and enjoy nature as well as natural peace in any form. Either way I am very strong in my views and wish to be heard in the community (Ann Arbor, Michigan). Aside from the small things, such as putting up a “make love not war” poster I made on my locker (I have had to reprint it an re-post in on my locker 5 times now) I know that Ann Arbor is a very outspoken area and was a main area in the hippy movement (the hippies are still around there if u look). So if anyone wants to give me a hand I would appreciate it. -Jordan
that is going to be tough to do solo.... I would advise holding a meeting for the like minded, call it something like "citizens for peace" or whatever hippie value you hold dearest, copy some flyers and put them up... as for a meeting place, you could ask around to coffee houses to hold it, somewhere people will feel comfortable, and if you dont want people calling you, you can have your email be your rsvp.
man, i wish i knew more about organizing...but I live in new jersey lol, so there aren't many "teachers" around these parts. All I can do is point you to some websites that have tips for "beginner activists" and the like. For now, check out some of the features on www.infoshop.org and www.globalizethis.org
