Do you get menstrual cramps and if you do what do you do for them? Do you ignore them or do you take them as a sign, and if you do take them as a sign how exactly do you do that?
i don't understand what you mean by take them as a sign? a sign of what? i get cramps, i guess everyone does to some extent, but they're never bad enough that i have to really do anything about it. sometimes i complain but it's mostly because there's nothing else to talk about. HAHA. i have a friend though who gets really bad cramps and she has to take midol and sit down for awhile because of it. i'm really glad i don't get stuck with a hot water bottle and and pills during my monthly.
I don't know really what I mean, I read that you're supposed to take pains in your body as a sign and indulge them and find out what they mean, like they are supposed to lead you to something that is troubling you emotionally or that you're not eating right or drinking enough and that if you indulge the pain and follow your instincts the pain will stop.
Caffiene can cause natural urterine cramping to be worse. I have always had bad cramps, and I don't like to take drugs for them ( i used to have a problem, so I now stay away from all drugs when possiable). Cut back on your caffiene intake, ie, coffee, pop, caffienated teas, for a week before your period and your cramps should get better. Other than that? Hot baths seem to help and sometimes if you put constant pressure on your uterous it helps. Lay back in bed, bring your knees up to your chest and have someone lay on you... sounds funny, i know, but it helps me. Oh.. and orgasms help too... either alone or with a friend, the method doesn't matter, it's the end result we are going for.
I've never gotten menstrual cramps. Any cramps I've ever gotten have been related to digestive issues (like possibly being gluten intolerant, arg) but yeah, like icedteapriestess said, orgasms are supposed to be helpful for cramps
I get imence menstrual pains some months. This month i barely notcied it but so far all others this year have been to the point of falling asleep for a few hours because otherwise i get dussy and puke and faint. I also dont usueally take pills of any sort except at this time of the month when if its wreally bad i might take a feminax tab. Last month i had terrible pains around there during the non mestrual faze of my cycle... which scared me. Turned out i was not eating right. Put some fibre in your body to aid digestion. (so any brown/bran foods) Also i've heared red meat is needed by a lot of women at this time of the month.
I dont get cramps very often. I usually try to ignore them but if i cant I take a walk and drink lots of water.
Mine had recently got so bad that went to the doctor..I am talking bad as in not being able to move without taking painkillers and even then every step hurting when I walked...she sent me for an ultrasound...they were looking for endometriosis (sorry, not sure of the spelling) however it turns out that my uterus is bending backwards and causing this...it is intense and there is not a lot she could tell me to do about this except pain management...I think with all the swelling that is going on it is bending over and ending up touching the bowel which causes severe pain spasms through the butt and lower body...apparently the muscles supporting everything got weak after having a baby...anyhow I am in the process of finding a solution so if anyone knows any answers to this one I would appreciate it!! mmm...probaly too much info there but what the hey!!:& Before this I used to get bad period pains sometimes but I usually found that warmth or sex dealt with them...
I get cramps so bad that they last days and days non stop. I usually just have to take a bunch of pain medicine and lay on a heating pad until they go away...
I get cramps like a day before my period is coming.. So i know its coming.. there a sign cramps equal period ... I dont take anything for them there not that bad...
I get cramps before my period, and when ovulating. I also get horrendous cramps on the 2nd day of menstruating (whereas, I also bleed heavily on that day), but after that, they tend to go away. I never worried about it, I figured it was just my body reacting to cetain changes in hormones, and that it was natural.
I don't beleive in suffering. I have had endometriosis, and I still get NASTY menstrual cramps (but not as bad as when I had the endo.) I take Motrin (600 mg every 4-6 hours) during the day, or Aleve (2 every 12 hours.) The Aleve is nice, because it covers you all night and I tend to wake up about 5:00 in the morning with cramps so bad I moan. (Scars Bear sometimes, I don't have a very good pain tolerance.) I also use a heating pad or a "Rice sock" or a cherry pit pad. You nuke the latter two, and they stay hot, and help your cramps. They are nice, because there are no cords. I have heard good things about the stick on heat pads. But I am allergic to latex, and to a lot of adhesives, so I would be afraid to use them. Also, they are expensive and disposable. I also found out that tampons cause worse cramps in my body than pads.
Maggie, I have endo which has come back and my doctor wants to give me the lupron shot. But my insurance doesnt cover it so its really expensive. Do you think it's worth it?
I have never had Lupron. I had Depo and I would not recommend it, but it is very different from Lupron. Lupron actually puts you into temporary menopause. I wish I had a better answer. I had surgery, but it still was a problem. After I got off of the Depo, it still hurt. It got better after my last baby was born. But my first three did nothing to help it. Go figure. If you start a thread, here or on Health, maybe someone who has used Lupron will answer. I wish I could be more helpful.
You were helpful, I appreciate you responding.. Its just that I had multiple surgeries for it and the last thing besides a hyst. is the lupron, that i havent tried. But as soon as I get off of it, he said it would come back.. So, was just curious.. But thanks though Maggie
I've noticed that when I exercise I don't cramp up as badly. I think it also takes your mind off the pain too. Usually Day Number 2 is the worst, once I'm past that, I don't have pain at all. I'm on the pill so I know exactly what day of the month it will come. It's kinda useful. Also, since I've been on the pill, my cramps haven't been nearly as bad. I remember as a kid I couldn't even come out of the fetal position without being in pain. It was crazy.
When I was 16 my doctor put me on the pill to deal with my cramps, they were really bad I was typically in the fetal position as well and wailing, and the pills really, really helped and a while after I got off them I still didn't get cramps but now they are coming back
I used to take impecable care of my self and I never got cramps or pms. Now I eat a lot of fast food because i've been so hungry from exercising and i look healthier but feel like crap and had really bad cramps last month. I find that when I don't drink and don't eat animal rpoducts that i have no cramps at all.
Maggie Sugar...I've noticed my cramps are worse when i use a tampon too. And i thought it was just my imagination.... My periods are so messed up. i'm on the pill and they're still not regular. But i only get cramps before and about two days after my period starts. and i load up on Advil a day before my period that way i don't have cramps when i do start.
I used to get cramps really badly, I would cry and feel nauseous, but then I found out (part of the reason) why: I was consuming too much caffeine. It really does make cramps and PMS worse, and I was having Mountain Dew almost every day. As soon as I stopped that habit, I only get mild cramps, and only on the first day or two, as opposed to nearly the whole week. I guess I do kind of take them as a sign, because occasionally I'll have really bad ones and that tells me I need to lay off the caffeine.
