Could someone who has experience with renting a decent sized RV tell me about what you need to do to get one, outline costs, other random things I should know, and most importantly, where do I learn or how do I get the right kind of license to drive one?

contact a company that rents 'em.
I had friends who rock starred it at High Sierra and rented an RV (honking huge) in Reno and drove in (70 miles). They split the cost four ways and still paid a chunk.
Ya need a credit card, not a debit card, and drivers only over 21.
The kids got LOTS of hassle over a "funny smell" in the rig.

I haven't actually rented one, but one thing to consider is that they are GAS HOGS and if at all possible try to plan your trip so you don't have to drive it cross country for many many miles. I know for some fests, people rent them closer to the fest locale, and then get to the RV rental place however they can. It can be cheaper that way actually. Esp with gas prices projected to rise this summer.

I know some people who rented one for one fest this past summer, 6 people for 5-6 days came out to about $300 per person, gas and rental and mileage etc. I think that was about the cost. And the responsible party who rents the vehicle probably has to be over 21.
