ok what genre wud unearth, avenged sevenfold, atreyu etc.... be placed under i'd say metalcore but iv heard ppl say hardcore (tho id call madball, sick of it all etc.. hardcore) oh soo confusing wat do u guys think
Around here, all of my friends listen to that type of music, and they either call it hardcore, or metal.
Outside metal I have no idea where genre borders lie and what the genres are called. Within metal I am rather strict but there's plenty of bands that I'm not sure of or that would be fileable under multiple genres. I also tend to override current genre by the genre the band used to have, especially if I generally prefer that genre over their current genre (no matter if with that specific band I might prefer their current genre). Um, okay, this was of no information to you but what the heck, for fuck's sake, hellelujah, bloody blasphemy, o sole mio, ich bin ein Berliner, I see a mouse, where, there on the stairs, where on the stairs, well there, a little mouse with wooden shoes.
im just tryin to define that type of music its pissing me off cos if i say hardcore sumone will say madball or sick of it all or sumthin, if i say metal sum wanker will say slipknot (ewww) to me metal is sabbath, judas priest, iron maiden etc.. ahh fuck it its just good music
I call Atreyu screamo or metalcore. Avenaged Sevenfold probably hardcore and I haven't heard Unearth. But then again, genres confuse me too. :s
Actually, they do sound metal. Technically the new metal bands are the ones that don't sound metal. Because metal = bands like Sabbath. Or something.
-.- That's because you listen to the newer stuff. What I'm trying to explain to you is that they were the original metal band. That's what metal sounded like back then. The 'metal' you listen to is like an evolution of Black Sabbath. Metal just happened to evolve and get heavier over the years.
