People often look to prominent figures to determine what is socially acceptable to say or believe. When those figures use derogatory language, it can function as a kind of social permission slip.

Trump’s 2024 victory was followed by a measurable uptick in both the perceived acceptability of prejudice and in people’s willingness to admit holding biased views toward groups he repeatedly criticized during the campaign. The findings echo earlier research from after Trump’s first election in 2016, when scientists observed that Americans across the political spectrum became more likely to say it was socially acceptable to express negative views about groups that had been targeted in campaign messaging.
The results pointed to a clear pattern: the harsher Trump’s campaign rhetoric toward a particular group, the more likely respondents were to say it was acceptable to express negative feelings toward that group after the election. Self-reported prejudice also ticked upward for the same communities that had been frequent campaign targets, including immigrants, Muslims, and transgender people.

Whistleblower to top Democrat: Kash Patel's FBI jet use delayed response to Kirk assassination, Brown University shooting
The FBI director’s travel came under scrutiny again this week after images emerged of him celebrating with the U.S. national hockey team after they won a gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Italy.

Whistleblower to top Democrat: Kash Patel's FBI jet use delayed response to Kirk assassination, Brown University shooting

    excerpt:

"Durbin, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, accused Patel of “irresponsible joyriding” on aircraft operated by the FBI and Justice Department that he said frustrated senior Trump administrative staff and amounted to “misuse or mismanagement of government resources.”

Patel has repeatedly come under scrutiny for reports that he used FBI aircraft for non-official travel, such as trips to a wrestling match at Penn State University and an excursion to a hunting resort in Texas. But the FBI director found himself under the microscope once again this week after images circulated online showing him celebrating with the U.S. men’s hockey team after their gold medal victory over Canada at the Winter Olympics in Italy."

Stocks sell off as traders wake up to the realization that Trump has ‘highly punitive’ options for new trade tariffs

    excerpt:

"Bratton argued that Asian companies will react by increasingly detaching themselves from U.S. trade. “We expect U.S. trade policy…to become increasingly complex and more targeted resulting in a patchwork of tariff measures and trade agreements…the global economy will continue to fragment with U.S. trade flows steadily becoming less important as Asian trade becomes increasingly more regional in nature,” he told clients."

Stocks sell off as traders wake up to the realization that Trump has ‘highly punitive’ options for new trade tariffs

    excerpt:

"At first glance, ending the tariffs looked broadly good for stocks because it makes international trade easier and cheaper for companies. Unsurprisingly, the S&P 500 closed up 0.69% on Friday.

But after Trump said he would propose new tariffs of 10%, and then changed his mind and made it 15%, analysts began to realize that some of the things Trump might do next could be more extreme than his “Liberation Day” tariffs and will certainly be more complex."

Trump Gets Back at ‘supreme court’ by Revoking Capital Letters

    excerpt:

"Trump began referring to the U.S. Supreme Court as the “supreme court,” explaining that he “will be using lower case letters for a while based on a complete lack of respect!” (This clarification was necessary, as Trump notoriously follows his heart on capitalization.)

Then he unintentionally paraphrased Obi-Wan Kenobi, claiming that by striking down his tariffs, the justices have made him more powerful than they can possibly imagine."

Trump uses deaths of people to promote his 2020 election truther narratives.

President Trump, promoting a secure border and defending his administration’s hard-line immigration agenda, told the families of people killed by undocumented immigrants that their loved ones would still be alive if the 2020 election hadn’t been “rigged.”

Trump Considers 'Preliminary Limited Strikes' on Iran as Israel on Highest Alert

    excerpt:

"President Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are due to meet with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday in Geneva for a third round of talks.

Witkoff suggests the president is puzzled that Iran hasn't agreed yet.

He stated, "Why, under this sort of pressure, with the amount of sea power, naval power that we have over there, why they have come to us and said, we profess that we don't wanna be, we don't want a weapon, so here's what we're prepared to do, and yet it's hard to, sort of, get them to that place.”

President Trump is said to be considering "preliminary limited strikes" to force Iran into a deal, as the U.S. has gathered masses of firepower in the Middle East."

Fuming Judges Deploy Nuclear Tactic to Fight Trump Admin

    excerpt:

"Another judge wrote in a scathing ruling that “agents of the federal government—masked, anonymous, armed with military weapons, operating from unmarked vehicles, acting without warrants of any kind—are seizing persons for civil immigration violations and imprisoning them without any semblance of due process.”

The practice is “an assault on the constitutional order,” and is exactly what the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution was written to prevent, wrote Judge Joseph R. Goodwin, a Clinton appointee."

Fuming Judges Deploy Nuclear Tactic to Fight Trump Admin

    excerpt:

"Dozens of judges have demanded that lawyers representing President Donald Trump’s administration explain why the government shouldn’t be held in contempt for failing to follow court orders involving detained migrants."

What a bunch of horseshit he spewed out of his orange mouth last night....I had to turn it off....lie lie lie lie lie. Inflation is down 506%, there is zero unemployment, new factories are booming up all over, wages are way way up...health care is wonderful and cheap, seniors are having lavish retirements...and the usual - tariffs are paid by industry, not by you and I.

I'm surprised he didn't want one of the gold medals for his help winning it.
