What kind of activities could I engage in to meet other hippies locally? Anyone have any ideas? I'm not sure which category to post this in, by the way.
If you can't find one, be one. Like-minded folk tend to coalesce. Be the very best version of your true, authentic self, and you won't have to look far.

This stuff makes me laugh (or shake my head in consternation). The universe here has an extraordinarily parochial view on the stereotypes of hippies. I wear shoes, have short hair (for now), shower daily, wear deodorant, use a microwave, add canned or frozen food to whatever it is I prepare to eat, and have no problems with eating things that were not grown organically or hydroponically. What you seem to seek is someone who applies the same labels to him-/her-/them-/itself that you would like applied to yourself. If you're looking for someone who wants to do good deeds for mankind, doesn't spend the whole day consumed with body image or self-worth shame, attend a Unitarian-Universalist church service, go and volunteer at a food kitchen, get a broom out and sweep a county street, volunteer at a hospital, donate blood, teach a child to read or help a student with math. The list goes on and on...
Yeah, I hear you. It's not about liking certain music or wearing certain clothes or taking certain drugs (though the latter can be quite fun in moderation!). It's a mindset of kindness toward yourself and others, among other things. It's mostly things that are not easily seen. And that shit's difficult to do sometimes! But if you're dedicated you keep on it.
No. It's actually the smell from the Penzeys jar of basil. I plan to carry it in the bouquet when I get married.
Penzey's is the best. We try to make it the home store when we go down south to visit family in Madison.
Well, I was having the same sort of problem. But like the Dead sang, "Don't tell me this town has now heart. Just got to look around." I did that and went to a free concert in a park in Hibbing that included Annie Humphrey. I found Shakedown Street, but it is very hard to see.
Get out there and protest. Otherwise we're never gonna change the world. Power to the People! Be informed, be aware, be woke. To be Hip is to know.
Theres probably more people of 'hippy mind' than you think, it's just many don't dress and look the same as those in the 60's or 70's. I'm in the UK so things might be different this side of the pond, but there's a lot of the hip minded into wicca and new age kinda thing. Also there may be some in peace and civil rights groups you could link up with.
