Not to get into great detail as I posted about it under the Blackmail thread, but now that I broke the cousins and uncles taboo over the holidays, is there a list of say…the Top 10 of what isn’t acceptable to most of the world? Assuming some you can’t talk about publicly, but I’m sure they could be listed for information purposes?
Homosexuality and incest are right at the top of the taboo list. If there are others, I really don't know of them since, um, these are the biggest two. I looked them up and adultery is on the list, PDAs are on the list...
So what is/are PDAs? I didn’t know homosexuality was a taboo, although I suppose in the same parts of the world where this forum is illegal?
PDA = Public Displays of Affection, i.e., kissing in public and, yeah, there are parts of the world where this forum would be quite illegal. Having sex in public is taboo and so is cannibalism. There's a whole list of social taboos that appears to cross cultural lines.
I don't know if it's still the case but, when I was in the Marine Corps (some 50 years ago), PDAs between service members (all branches) were absolutely against regulations. No kissing, no hugging, nothing. It was a real bitch if your SO was also in the service! But cannibalism in private was OK, right?
Things that was taboo 50 years ago are now accepted as normal or common now. So, I've seen many changes in my time.
Well…between those that questionable and those that are not acceptable in most societies, I think I am at 13. Thank you to those that reminded me of a few of them in private messages
Hey everyone! A lot of back and forth with many of you (mostly guys) and the list is up to 20! I guess if you are categorically bad, then you’ve done everything at least once…right?
With the list at 20 I would think some things may have went from taboo to sick and disgusting. I don't really care to know all.
