Looks like things are about to get interesting with oil in Venezuela. Will more U.S oil companies go back to Venezuela for the oil? They say production had declined under Chavez and Maduro.

Way more complicated than it's being presented. 10 years, maybe $60 billion, stable local political situation, no problems pushing Russia and China out who are owed like $150 billion in oil and minerals, and finding oil companies wanting to take the risk and lowering already low oil prices further, just to assage Trump's inflated ego.

Oh then there's the fact the the US doesn't control shit on the ground in Venezuela presently, much less the government or the people. The US has committed an act of war without Congressional approval. It was an illegal act.

All the US has is a complete oil blockade on shipping. Over a period that will actually raise oil prices, which is probably the real goal. Over a million barrels a day off the market.

PS, you're gonna be lucky to see gas prices go much lower than they are now. They'll fuck up the world to keep oil over $50 a barrel.

The current overproduction of oil is unsustainable in the long run, but a world war would be a windfall for all the oil companies.

I'll bet the US burned more fuel with their blockade and attack than the extra oil they will ever pull out.

Trump just said he's going to take/steal 30 to 50 million barrels of oil from Venezuela and sell it. Oh and he's personally going to decide where that money goes.

At least 16 oil tankers have evaded the blockade as of Jan. 6.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright told an audience at a Goldman Sachs energy industry event in Miami, Florida, that the United States will take control of all oil from Venezuela for the foreseeable future. Lisa Desjardins and Nick Schifrin of PBS NewsHour reported that Trump administration officials have told lawmakers that they plan to put the money raised from their seizure of Venezuelan oil into bank accounts outside the U.S. Treasury. Desjardins clarified that “sources said they understood these as similar [to] or decidedly ‘off-shore’ accounts.”

Yesterday, Trump announced that, as president of the United States, he would control the money from the sale of Venezuelan oil.

It's economic imperialism. The oil will not be used to benefit the Venezuelan people, or those of the U.S. Those who benefit will be the ultra rich oil barons and those who paved the way for them to rape a sovereign country of its resources.

Have the Venezuelan people been benefiting from their oil under Maduro?

Countries with valuable natural resources need to be focused on diversifying their economies. Not everyone can work in the oil industry. Venezuela needs to expand the private sector with the right policies.

    And now:
"This Oil will be sold at its Market Price, and that money will be controlled by me, as President of the United States of America, to ensure it is used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States!"

    Just another dictator.

Almost all of the major U S oil companies have turned down Trump's offer to run the refineries. Major investments would be required. And the break even point would be 8+ years to recoup the investment costs with no profits during that time frame according to news reports. Also the unstable government situation, armed militants, and anti American attitudes are the driving reasons for turning the offers down

Also Venezuelan oil is of low quality, hard to refine, high in sulfur content, and very bad for the environment.
