So to summarize my views on animal rights all in one place (and add a little more to that too). Hunting and wearing fur is unnecessary. And most people don't do that, so we can ban that now. Circus animals, elephant rides and horse rides all involve situations where the animals may attack. Humans are in danger in those situations too. We need to ban that all immediately. And someone online once told me that petting farms are harmless fun. But those animals carry disease. If your child wants to see cute animals, why don't you take him to a zoo? Zoos are very nice. They are nice for the animals who want for nothing and sleep all day there. And zoos help prevent animal extinctions too. Am I wrong with any of this?
I agree with that. The world needs all the species of animals that we have -- the laws of nature dictate who survives. We have more than enough people - who routinely break the "laws of nature" with nuclear power plants, aircraft that burn 10,000 gallons or more on a long flight, methane in the atmosphere, ozone holes that let in hazardous solar rays, etc.
I agree in regards to circus animals and wearing fur. I disagree with your opinion on petting farms. My parents have a farm and one of the many things they do is keep rescue animals. Several goats, sheep, an abused old cow, ducks, chickens, two horses. All rescues and they pay for feed and veterinary services by allowing people to come pet and feed them. One group at a time, two days a week. Also, my whole family hunts. I don’t personally but my dad, brothers and sister hunt local deer and grouse for food. My dad occasionally hunts bears too and as much as I disagree with that, he DOES use every bit of it. They all fish and crab. They do a pretty impressive job of living off what they can grow, farm and hunt
Animals can be useful for a lot of things. For one if the whole world turned vegetarian and stop the slaughter houses, most of these useless wars would stop and people would return back into the mode of goodness. There are three human internal modes, they are the modes of goodness, passion and ignorance. People in the mode of passion and ignorance are hardcore meat eaters, especially cows and pork which is very offensive to the scriptures. If your living in The West, my best advice for you is to become a Vegetarian and worship and center your mind on God and give back to others. That’s the only way to contentment and wisdom.
I wanted to summarize more. Removing all unnecessary pain from those experiments, yes. But someone online told me for some medical experiments pain is necessary. I'll have to look into that. There are also field studies. Studying pain you didn't cause. And sometimes they give the victims free medical care too.
For rats and mice I still say if not an old fashioned spring trap, something left out in their food but humane. Maybe hormone contraceptives like they did where I live once to cull the deer. Or why not barbiturates? With the words "rat poison" on the box so that people don't abuse it. It wouldn't contain that, but how would they know?
I'm a mighty big animal lover and so have some pretty strong views. On the cruelty to animals issue I believe those who deliberately cause suffering to any animal should have same sentence handed out as if they carried out the offence on another human. Vivisection should be banned as there are now credible but sometimes more costly alternatives. Circus animals are often housed in cramp conditions and this should be brought to an end. On raising animals for food they should be treated with kindness and love whilst being reared and their slaughter. With regards to hunting, this should be restricted to hunting food or provide material for clothing and not as fun or sport. As I say, I have mighty strong views. One of our tenets actually is about animal welfare. 10th tenet
