    Thanks, love and peace x

I did not personally have water births with mine. They were born in Jamaica, and we didn't even have hot water, much less a tub!

But, I have attended many water births, and by the look on the mamas faces when they sink into that glorious tub of deep, hot water, it definately helps ease the pain. Their eyes roll back and they just relax, "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!"

Almost every woman I know has truly appreciated the soothing, pain relieveing effects of the water.
I have attended a few women who eagerly got in the tub, sat there a few minutes, and got out. Several have found the shower instead, with a hand-held spray on their backs, more soothing, and some did not want to be near the water at all.
I had two ladies who turned the shower on the coldest setting and sat under that. One lady was in the freezing cold shower and asked my for "A big drink of ice water, as big as you got!" I ran to get it , she took a sip, and poured the rest of the glass of ice water over head.
"More!" she said , holding the glass out to me.
But the vast majority of ladies loved the water, and many say they would never give birth with out it again.

A water birth. I wanted to be in water SO badly when I labored with my first baby. It was in the mid 1980s and the hospital didn't have a tub. I BEGGED for a tub, and they offered me a shower. I actually went home, as labor wasn't progressing and I didn't want to be there! But I was told "Don't get in water, in case your bag breaks." Sigh, I listened. I wish I hadn't. I was young and impressionable, and really THOUGHT I could advocate for myself, but once hard labor hit, things were beyond my control (although I managed to stave off a C Birth for almost a full day.)

I think water is a GREAT way to labor, if that is what you want. I can just imagine how it will take the pain from your body. sigh..........

    I'm gonna cry now.

Penny, I hope you get your water birth. I would have done anything for one. A lot of my clients have them, and the Teaching Hospital I work with uses an Aqua Doula tub. My baby having days are over. But I have dds, maybe they will be able to water birth or water labor.

Thanks Ladies - You are a great inspiration to us all. I really am hoping to have a water birth but I have to speak to my midwife about the availability at the local hospital. I'm currently 20 weeks and 2 days pregnant so I still have time to research other options!)

    Love and peace x

I really want to have a water birth as well. To be totally honest with you I want to have a homebirth but my dh isn't up for it. I am currently 30 weeks 4 days. So my time is near really soon. We'll see if I am able to accomplish either.

I wanted to have a waterbirth with my son. I spent part of my labor in the tub at the birth center but when it was time for him to come I just suddenly wanted to be out of that tub instead and so we had him in the bed. I suspect the cold weather had something to do with it,the water was warm but man the sides of that tub were icy cold. In fact he's 2 now and that was the coldest day in the last two years here. We're in Florida, and it was like 27 that night.

I was going to have a water birth, and I laboured for the most part in the tub, but at the last moment I got out. I think they water was a bit oo hot... Just didn't feel right. The tub for sure helped with the pains though... as much as anything could I guess. I was taking turns in the shower, the bed and the tub. It got kinda messy in the tub though. I'd recommend trying it anyway. I kinda wish I woulda went thorugh with it.
