Im wondering if some of you might know whats causing this?

Notice the menu DOEES NOT FIT THE APPLET and the 3 check boxs are not boxs!

If I bootup in safe mode everything displays right so its gonna be a driver I assume Since safe mode uses different drivers.....

The first time this happend I simply deleted "shelliconcache" and it fixed itself but not this time.......

This is Win98se and everything in device manager says all stuff is working OK so it must be a driver file but I dont know which one!!

    Thanx guys,I love ya all!!

For a lil while Windows Media Player did not work. It was linked to Apple I-pod music downloads, using it after Apple stopped supporting the software.
After an update, Media Player it came back.

I did loose a few albums to corruption, but nice to listen to that library again.

During updates, Windows has the nasty habit of switching to generic drivers, particularly if the device in question has not registered their drivers with Microsoft.
You can switch them back and you will be fine until the next Windows update.

Asus computer are renowned for using unregistered devices and their drivers.

Hmmmmm I dont know much about the driver files........

I dont wanna sound stupid but how do I find them??

The Display device I have is SIS 530 if that helps..... (Silicon Intergrated Systems)

If I goto Device manager (Which says its working fine) I can find the drivers loaded for this

    sis530v.drv
    sis530v.vxd
    vmm32.vxd (vdd.vxd)

    All are in system directory......

I dunno why that last one has the vdd file in ()s

    Thank you guys!!!

Fast forward 27 years and you might be wondering why Epic Games Launcher can't scale to fit your screen on Windows 10.

I wish I could help you but I can't even help myself...

I guess I know what the solution is but I just don't like it. Either increase my resolution of lower my text scaling factor. But I have my display set the way I like it and I can't be switching the settings all the damn time. Seems like they couldn't care less about accommodating some 50 year old eyeballs.

    Hey Dues how are ya??

I wanted to tell you my computer fixed itself!!!

I booted up and got an error (explorer (It didnt read the reg right (which it does alot))) and I rebooted... Then it restored a good registry.....

When It re-booted,everything was fixed!!!!! (The Menu width, etc)

I have no idea why it messed up in the first place or why it chose to correct itself when it restored this reg...

This poor computer has been thru hell.. The place that had it before me didnt take care of it well and it had even more problems...... Memory issues,etc.....

I cant say how long it will stay fixed because I have no idea what happend to fix it,etc......

Windows has a way to run old software properly. I think if you can find the .exe file for the program, right click on it and it may give you an option to run in different modes.

I can't remember the commands off hand. It does require admin access on the computer, as I recall. Perhaps it is "run as administrator".

Sorry, I'm on Android atm, so can't check. Not every old program works, but I did get a few. Also can't remember which version of Windows I found that on.

I believe 'compatibility mode' is on WinXP and up but im not sure.....

The only thing I can think is earlier I deleted TTFCACHE .. Could that have fixed it buddy??

The file has been since re-created but CACHE FILES can cause problems......

I was gonna mark SHELLICONCACHE and TTFCACHE 'read only' so they cant be changed..... Would that work???

    Computers are a mystery!!

Then you shouldn't be messing around with system files.

The /p listed every file and asked if I wanted to delete it.. I pressed N until I got to that file!!

I had a friend heplping me out on another site... He helped me thru DOS... I know a little bit of it but not much......

Best of luck with your deleting, but be careful, what you are deleting as this can affect the run off the program. But I think you will be OK with your friend to guide you.
