..... I've been getting forhead acne, or just pimples and such on my forhead and only on my forhead. I usually have very clear skin and never get pimples etc. and I have always had clear skin until I got dreads, ever since then my forhead has been acting up. Could the two be related? My mom thought maybe it was because I only wash my hair once a week (or sometimes every two weeks) and the oil from my hair was irritating my skin but I still wash my face everyday and use organic tea tree face wash. Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice would be appreciated.
how long have you had the dreads for? If your hair hasnt got used to not having conditioner added to it and having all its natural oils being washed out daily it might be producing more oils. Also are you using a shampoo which is totally natural? Or is it one that will dry your hair out (aka no oils) if not i advise that.
Yeah, I had that problem. My forehead broke out like crazy and it drove me nuts. I'm pretty sure it's because of the oils from my dreads. I try to control it by wearing my hair back and outta my face, and if I touch my hair with my hands, I make sure I don't touch my face with the oils on my hands. So yeah, I'd say it's because of the dreads. I guess either keep 'em cleaner, or just make sure they're not in your face a lot. Oh, and if you wear a tam or hat a lot over your dreads, that can add to it, since your forehead can't breathe and the oils are being trapped in there.
I've had my dreads for almost 6 months (6 months on the 25th). The shampoo I use is "sundog" made with hemp seed oil, I do believe it has natural oils in it. Is this bad? Should I get shampoo without natural oils?
Hmm...I don't know. The oils I'm talking about are the natural oils that are produced on your head. I guess if you combine those with oils from shampoo, then that can add to the problem. You might wanna try using a less oily product, or as I said...just make sure that your hair stays outta your face.
Natural oils are ok. it just depends WHAT ils you are using. I recomend drying your hair out a bit with sea salt water or lemon juice and water (carefull the later will lighten your hair colour in the sunshine) and like i said avoid oily/moisturinsing elements.
using lemon juice can lighten your hair?! ooh i maye try that, see what happens, lol. My hair usualy goes pretty blonde in places when im out in the sun anyway.
hehe...when I was about 13 I wanted blonde hair but wasn't allowed to dye it. So, I got a bunch of lemons and rubbed them all in my hair and then went outside to play in the sun. When I went home later on my hair was bleached blonde. When I told my mom it was from lemons she was OK (she just didn't want me using chemicals in my hair so young). *hugs* Jessie
