The ongoing boat strikes bring the murder toll to EIGHTY-TWO, lacking ZERO queries whether drug smuggling was involved (even had there been, arbitrary murder is NOT the legal/moral response).

 

Our supreme leader is demonstrating that he has the plenary power to summarily execute anyone, extrajudicially and without even a whiff of due process, simply upon his whim.
Don't think for a moment that once he normalizes murdering Venezuelan fisherman he won't extrapolate that to American citizens.

 

would be easy to salvage materials from the boats to determine if they carry narcotics.

The heavy issue is the very real threat of invasion of Venezuela for a regime change.

 

I'm convinced they are getting Intel from an inside informant telling them where and when these boats are leaving. Likely someone close to the cartel leader.

I believe many of the boats in the Caribbean are going elsewhere, not necessarily the US.

Of course attacking one cartel only makes the others stronger and more profitable, so it's worth considering that there are people profiting from these attacks with payoffs reaching high in US government circles.

And what happened to the CIA agents the Venezuelans arrested recently?

 

I reckon the fishing has dropped off considerably in those waters.

 

Well the alternative is to intercept them and arrest them. Of course the smugglers are armed too, so someone will likely get hurt.

Then you have to bring them back to the US so they can be brought to justice. But the last thing anyone wants is more cartel people in the US or in our jail system.

And current policy would be to deport them back to Venezuela or elsewhere anyway. Is that a good deterrent? I agree blowing the boats up is an effective deterrent.

Of course it's not legal. That hasn't deterred King Trump from dozens of illegal acts. I guess in his eyes one illegal act deserves another.

 

By just killing those you think, or believe to be guilty of a crime, you undermine the entire justice system and the world standing of the U.S. government and military.

This is impossible to disagree with.

Old hippies may remember the Vietnam War; total American deaths for the several years of war was a little less than 70,000 soldiers.

Today, American narcotics deaths are a similar number yearly.

this is a part-crime, part-war operation to distress this Nation at large.

Videos of these boats are on line. They look like those cigarette yachts that playboys drive, at high speeds. In some of the better clips one might see the interior of the open boat, the men operating the boat. These guys are flying. Trying to imagine a civilian purpose to the boat in the film. I cant.

 

So is the price of coke up now?

 

Is the penalty for drug dealing death now? And is reasonable suspicion now enough to carry out the execution?

 

Another very good reason for destroying the boats and their illegal contents (if not the smugglers themselves) is to prevent the disappearance of the evidence after seizure. That leads to corruption.

None of this justifies death, but if drug dealing at that level warrants a death penalty after years of appeals and incarceration, it's certainly more effective, efficient and clean, if illegal to do what US is doing.

I only wish it was fentanyl they were intercepting because that kills. Coke is addictive but won't kill you on your first dose thinking it's something else

 

Murder is murder. t...p murders. The death penalty has had minimal (if any) effect on the numbers of such crimes committed.

 

Life is cheap, otherwise those boats would be drones...

 

Wall Street Journal giving pushback to Trump over unsanctioned boat attacks. Nineteen boats have been hit to date.

Concern is about a build up of military strike capability off Venezuela and an intention of regime change.

 

Is there any evidence at all that the boats were carrying coke? I kinda like the idea in American jurisprudence that there needs to be a trial and conviction "beyond a reasonable doubt" before the death penalty is administered to suspects.
