Yeah, that's gonna happen. For that to happen, the global price of crude would need to be about $20/barrel and somehow I don't think big oil is ready to chop their profits down by about 70% no matter what global crisis he creates.

Workers decry Trump officials as ‘out of control’ as longest shutdown drags on

    excerpt:

In November, furloughed government employees received furlough extension notices, although many notices did not contain assurances they would receive back pay once the government reopens. Denial of back pay has been a threat repeatedly made by the Trump administration during the shutdown, along with firings during the shutdown, which were blocked in a federal court.

“I have never, ever, ever, ever, ever thought that we would have our government attacking government employees,” said Omar Algeciras, who works at the Department of Labor. “ I think this is the epitome of harassment, bullying and attacks on people that are simply trying to do their best to provide a service or services to American workers.”

At White House meeting, Hungary's Orbán to seek Trump's blessing to keep buying Russian oil

    excerpt:

"At the heart of Orbán’s appeals for an exemption is his claim that Hungary, landlocked in the heart of Central Europe, has no viable alternatives to Russian crude, and that replacing those supplies would trigger an economic collapse. Critics dispute that claim.

Yet Trump has indicated Orbán’s arguments may have stuck a chord. In October, he called Orbán a “very great leader,” and said Hungary was “sort of stuck” when it came to Russian oil purchases. Trump said Hungary has “one pipeline” — the Druzhba, which delivers Russian crude through Ukraine and into Central Europe."

Trump's bright view of the economy doesn't match what voters are seeing

    excerpt:

"Trump’s electoral strength springs from the emotional bond he forged with working-class voters. He thrilled his supporters in the 2024 election when, in an attempt to troll his opponent Kamala Harris, he doffed his suit jacket, bundled himself in an apron and manned a French fry station at a Philadelphia-area McDonald’s.

Now, though, Trump risks appearing detached from the same forgotten slice of the electorate that he successfully mobilized in past elections.

He gave a campaign-style speech on the economy on Wednesday, not at a small business or family farm, but at a forum for business leaders in a Miami sports arena. The top ticket package was $10,000; it sold out before the event."

When is a tariff not a tax? When I say so, Trump tells supreme court

    excerpt:

"Thus, on Wednesday morning, the administration appeared to argue before the supreme court that these tariffs – taxes paid by myriad US companies on imported products – were not really taxes at all.

Critics are not having it. “Anybody can look up in the dictionary,” Maria Cantwell, Democratic senator from Washington, told the Guardian. “Tariffs are an import tax, plain and simple. I would assume the administration understands that.”

“I actually am surprised that it was so lacking,” Cantwell added, of the administration’s case.

The court did not appear persuaded, either. “You want to say tariffs are not taxes,” said the liberal justice Sonia Sotomayor. “But that’s exactly what they are.”

Some conservatives on the bench also sounded skeptical. “The vehicle is the imposition of taxes on Americans, and that has always been a core power of Congress,” said the chief justice John Roberts."

Trump should have stayed quiet about his MRI.

    As usual, he didn't.

He boasted that he had an MRI and it was perfectl.

Now Trump, his doctors, and his spokespeople don't know why the MRI was done.

    excerpt

"Halligan’s unusual role — singlehandedly presenting to the grand jury and securing the indictment without support of career prosecutors – has drawn significant scrutiny. It has formed the basis of Comey’s effort to sink the indictment by labeling it a “vindictive” prosecution meant to satisfy Trump’s vendetta."

Trump's bright view of the economy doesn't match what voters are seeing

    excerpt:

“We didn’t elect the president to go out there and travel the world and end the foreign wars,” Greene said. “We elected the president to stop sending tax dollars and weapons for foreign wars — to completely not engage anymore. And watching the foreign leaders come to the White House through a revolving door is not helping Americans. It’s not reducing the cost of living. It’s doing nothing about health insurance premiums. It’s doing nothing to solve the problems that are really plaguing vulnerable segments of our population, especially young people.”

It's questionable whether Halligan was even appointed legally.

She was the second replacement for another person whose acting period had already expired, which would have required that she be confirmed by the U.S. Senate, which didn't happen.

Lindsey Halligan is Trump's former personal attorney.

U.S. Deputy Attorney General is Blanche, Trump's former criminal defense attorney.
