The Mexican Cartel known as the Chapitos from Sinaloa have issued a threat to target American tourists at resorts in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, both in Baja California Sur.

    Here's what the Cartel said:

'You will be the ones to blame. We'll show how we'll make this war starting 5/10/2025 (October 5th) on all Americans residing in areas where we have a presence… especially those living in San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.

'We are the ones who rule here and we'll demonstrate what we are capable of if you don't stop arresting our people and decommissioning our loads and weapons.'

Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are both in Baja California Sur. I lived there for six years. Yeah the Sinola Cartel is there. I smoked their shit mota when I was down there.

There is no competition, no other cartel there. About eight years ago there was a war between the local gang and Sinoloa I guess. 1100+ people died.

I believe the military was needed, and no doubt some politician decided to work with the Cartel because during the time I was there, there was no cartel violence.

Yet I know of a couple of small time dealers who disappeared. One I know was murdered but not by a Cartel...

Mexico is usually far more dangerous for Mexicans than tourists. Both the govt and the Cartels need the tourist dollars. So this is a very serious the threat, which will damage tourism no matter what happens.

It’s a shame that American tourist are having to pay the price for the politicians who make the decisions to go to war with the cartels. I’ve heard the president wants to send our troops into Mexico to go after the cartels. Mexicos president Sheinbaum has not agreed and told our president to not send troops.

I have a dozen family members who are planning on going to Cabo San Lucas next month for a wedding. I’ll pass this threat along to them.

Good idea. Wedding might get moved elsewhere anyway.

I'm old enough to remember when people could travel almost anywhere. Afghanistan was on the hippie trail! Try going there now... I used to be all over Mexico, rode a motorcycle from Texas to Guatemala, lived in Guatemala... all of that is problematic today. Sigh... I'd prefer a peacefull world!

The cartels are lucky if they have a five-year turnover rate, due to unexpected deaths. The US and Mexican governments can mow them down like weeds, but they make money. Like any number of people who claim to hate the US, but make their money from us. Just as the US is suffering from a lack of Canadian tourists, Mexico will only suffer so long before they kick ass.
