I don't understand this next one. But Amendment XXII clearly says a president can't have a third term. But when Bill Clinton was in office, they were talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jennifer Granholm becoming president. Neither was actually born in the US. But they said the same about Henry Kissinger running for president in the 70s. Kissinger was born in Israel, and the Constitution says you have to be a natural born citizen to be president. But people said if they just ignored that part of the consitution he could run. How can you ignore a requirement for president? You can choose not to enforce a law. You can waive a right. But that?

Now people are talking about that for Trump, which I think is an even worse idea. But for someone like Obama I'd support that. He was a little too conservative for me sometimes. But he was a Democrat, and he was a uniter and not a divider, which I also liked.

The new republicans don't believe in laws unless they are for their benefit.
All other laws can be ignored.

I just read what the Constitution says...
It specifically doesn't allow a President to be elected for a third term...

But if there is no election, say due to national emergency, like war, insurrection or whatever, he can just cancel the election and remain president for as long as he's still in power, or is physically and administratively removed.

I wouldn't put it past him, but I doubt he'll live that long.

I don't think it says that, but he could try it. Who knows? He might pull it off. Anything is possible these days.

The text of the Twenty-Second Amendment states: "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once." It was ratified on February 27, 1951.

Of course Trump can ignore that if he chooses and there's no longer anyone or anything that can stop him from calling off the election and staying in power.

His brown shirts (federalized National Guards, ICE, FBI) will surround his palace to protect him during the Civil war he created.

The populace is already subdued psychologically. Meanwhile the Guard is getting experience in crowd control, riots, urban warfare.

Pentagon getting cleared out of all experienced, talented leaders for incompetent ass kissers.

They won't disobey the great pumpkin.
    They've seen his wrath.

Government employees and most of the country is living in fear of what comes next from the most selfish person who ever lived.

No person can be elected to more than two terms as president.

Also no person who has served more than two years of a previous president's term can be elected more than once. For example Johnson served less than two years of Kennedy's presidential due to his assassination.
Therefore he could be elected twice.

Trump will have served two terms, and would be ineligible to run again.
The 12th Amendment states that, "No person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."
But, the logic goes, he could be a third term president in theory by some unspecified means, therefore he could be could be appointed president after the elected president resigns. Which is ridiculous as he couldn't be vice president to begin with, but it could go to the supreme court..............

Trump can't cancel elections...congress sets elections..unless they cave to Trump.

Another option is for Trump to become the Speaker of the House, then the president and vice president resign and Trump becomes an unelected third term president.

Or he can just refuse to leave and then with the support of his MAGA judges, supreme court, House of Representatives and Republican senators...just break the law...you know like he's doing right now.
