My own theory is that God must exist, or humanity would have destroyed the planet long ago.

 

It takes a lot of work to destroy a planet as quickly as we are. In any case Humanity will destroy itself first and leave a scar on the planet that will take a million years to heal.

 

I agree with Papa, something higher but religions have bastardized he/she/they being.
I too was surprised by Jane’s final blessing. But I think she doesn’t (nor do I) believe in religion.
It seemed she believes in Mother Nature. But she did mention a higher power which she believes kept her safe in Africa, and Africa was going through some shit during her time there.

What happens when we leave….if you spread good karma, don’t worry.

 

God made it difficult, or we would already be dead. Note, this is the same logic you are using, but a much simpler explanation, that also fits the facts. We occupy a Goldilocks universe, that's not too hot, not too cold, but just right. Our orbit, composition, sun, moon, and orbit in the galaxy are also, just right.

BTW, huge difference between Jan 6th and Tienanen Square. One was a peaceful protest against censorship by a fascist dictatorship that was violently suppressed by the fascist government, the other was a violent coup attempt to keep a fascist dictatorship in power and deny the fairly elected winner his victory.

However in both cases a fascist was using government power to stay in power against the will of the people.
