Ancestors of mine worked on the construction of this church. My birth document is recorded in the civil offices of the Comune. My grandfather used his mustering-out pay (army of the Kingdom of Italy in their war against the Ottoman Empire, and one of the important precursors to WWI) to purchase a lemon grove a few hundred meters from this site. As far as I know, there's now a small hotel on that site catering mostly to German travelers.
Il Santuario della Madonna della Milicia, Altavilla Milicia (Provincia Palermo), Sicilia, Italia. A small town on the north coast of the Island of Sicily, west of center, Tyrrhenian Sea.
Fried taro leaves wrapped with gram flour and spices. So good. (Called Alu Vadi) From Maharashtra (A state on the west coast of India, parent state to Mumbai and Pune)
I disavow my ethnic "heritage". I am one of a large group who underwent an ethnic transmutation when their DNA was transformed/upgraded thanks to liberal use of a certain high dose lysergic acid. We don't need symbols of our changed state. We can spot each other by that certain glow in the eyes. And our views on life and the world often coincide. Our common experience has taught us the same basic lessons, ones that your parents, schools and churches don't teach. And yes, the truth which we often denied, that LSD changes our genetic makeup is true. It's also true that that is not a bad thing, quite the contrary!
In the spirit of Halloween coming up - I have definite background in Arabian and Indian Culture - Some of my ancestors were Eastern Gypsies for sure.
