Well, I just found out last Friday that I am Pregnate. I am about 7 weeks. God, I forgot what morning sickness was like!!! I have been in and out of the hospital this past week because I haven't been able to keep anything down. Does anyone know around how long morning sickness will last? And, If anyone knows any good websites to get baby names from that would be great! Thanks a bunch!!!!
Congrats! i'm preggy too, lol, found out Wednesday. My estimate is around 6 weeks. I'm right beside ya sis! How many kids do you have? This will be #3 for me. Morning sickness is different for everyone; i've heard some mommies can't keep food down for the whole 9 months, and have major trouble gaining weight, while others, like me, don't throw up once. It can also vary from pregnancy to pregnancy of course, so i hope you get over it soon! I like this site for baby names: http://www.parenthood.com/babynames.html You can search names, meanings, cultures, etc. It's super-cool, and easy to use.
Congratulations to both of you! How exciting! I just had baby #3 last October. For me, morning sickness peaks at 10 weeks and slowly decreases until it's pretty much gone at 14 weeks. I had great success this time around by using seabands and taking vitiman B6 supplements. The B6 was especially helpful. I've heard that papaya digestive enzymes are great too though I've no experience with them. If I ever have another baby I want to try them. Oh, peppermint tea is soothing too. Smelling peppermint can help if you have smell aversions (I did, big time. My dh made cheese and onion hot dogs one night and I thought I would just die from the smell ewwwwww) I would take a bath if I felt really bad. For me, the smell of soap and shampoo were soothing, but I know for other people that might not be so good. Hope that helps!
Congratulations If you need any name help just ask. Getting to be an expert at it. My fave sites on the subject are.... alternativebabynames.com babynames.com behindthename.com namenerds.com/uucn pregnancy.about.com/mpboards (I visit the baby names board, great helpful group there)

I also am very pregnant. I am about 5 and half months along now and have had morning sickness the whole time. For morning sickness I have a few rememdies... First off, eating right away even if you can't, is most important and also having a some ginger slices near the bed is good too. I take a gentle tea from Yogi Teas that is called Stomach Ease or something like that and also I try to maintain a balanced diet. I have also heard that a little bit of apple cider vinegar in water and honey first thing will make your body balanced if you're too acidic. I have a good book called the Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year. Very good advice on what you can and can't take when you're pregnant. I also have a question for all you mommies... For those of you who have already had children... Did you have a hospital birth or not? What do you think about having a birth in the forest at a Rainbow Gathering. This year, If I go, will be my 6th gathering in a row and I remember back a few years at the Michingan Gathering a baby was born just fine out there in the forest, a young mom too!! I am due June 30 and think that's where I will probably be. Also another quick question for all you hippy mamas, i feel like i have domesticated my children so much. How do you get away from all that so that your children will be less materialistic and go with the flow?
Hey chill mama; some good questions, but first off, i want to add my own remedy for morning sickness: peppermint tea. Just add about 1 tsp peppermint leaf to each cup boiling water (i drink 1-3 cups at a time, lol, depends on just how crappy i'm feeling), a few drops of honey, and you'll be feeling better in no time. My husband, an aspiring herbalist, cautions not to drink this every day, as your body may grow dependent on it, but you can just take a few sniffs of the peppermint (or peppermint essential oil) for a quick fix I gave birth to my first two children in a hospital. They weren't horrible experiences, but this time around i'm definately checking into other options. With a first child, i would be a little reluctant to encourage you to give birth away from, at the very least, someone trained to assist you. Now, i'm sure at a rainbow gathering, there are plenty of mama's who could help you in a pinch, but on the off chance you may have complications, you may at least want to be sure there is a medical facility nearby, or a trained midwife in the group. As far as our materialistic society goes...that's a hard one, as it's difficult to find the balance, and what may be harmless for one child borders on obsession for another. Personaly, i don't see the point of keeping things like popular cartoon characters or toys from my children, but we also taught them early on the importance of books, and nature. The first phrase both of them learned was "thank you," and since their father and i say it to each other, and to the kids, it's second nature to them. It's a simple thing to say, but i think it's important, as it keeps them mindful to be gracious, even if it becomes subconscious. So i don't think it's so much what they have, or what you let them do, as what your own attitude is about it, and what they're taught.
Thanks to everyone!!! I'm feeling better now. After my last trip to the Hospital they gave me somthing that keeps food down. This is my second child. I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one pregnant!
Popping in to say congrats to all you preggie mamas! ...now I am running far, far away from this thread! My last two were cabin fever babies (oct 30, 02 & nov 4, 04) My husband and I now barely hold hands these few months of the year. hahaha
