If I owned the land and knew your situation, it would not bother me in the slightest. Your dad spent happy times there, he was not a serial killer.
I assume that the area is fairly open land, it is not as if you would be spreading them a few feet from an occupied house.

Is something wrong with the forum? It seems to have deleted all your full-stops (periods).
The term is trespassing but, in the UK at least, that's no biggy. Trespassing is a civil matter (outside scope of police) and being on someone's land isn't trespass unless and until they ask you to leave and you actually don't.

We're it me, I'd write to them (yep, the old-fashioned way, on paper with pen) and include my Dad's address and phone number. I'd set out the background to your request - former ownership and your Dad's death and his dying request, that he be scattered there. I'd also include your desire to fulfill his dying wish in case it may help get him a place in heaven, and you want to make sure you do whatever you can to help get him there. That may pull at their supposedly Christian belief and show you are equally into God which may help get their consent.

Failing that, I find a boundary fence away from their view; I'd gather with family etc at the fence; I'd jump over the fence to scatter the ashes (with family watching from outside the boundary) and then I'd jump back out, before being seen or before they get close enough to ensure confrontation.

It only took about 2 minutes to scatter my dad's ashes. If you're hoping several of the family can each scatter some if his ashes, that may take longer and make it more likely they could confront you before finishing.

That's my UK solution. I'm not knowledgeable on this subject to be sure it's correct for any other country.

So glad you finally got that done, and granted him his wish. Sorry he is gone, but I know you have many happy memories :)

Seeing that commercial airlines routinely dump jet fuel when they need to -- what damage could some sterile ashes do?
