I'm looking for some new movies to watch. So few being made that I care to watch. So what have you seen that you enjoyed. Thanks, but no zombies, vampires, military or violent movies meant to sell more guns and recruit kids. I like foreign films.
I watched MAID on Netflix. I enjoyed the trials and tribulations of the main character! Nary a zombie and nothing blew up!! But it was pretty emotional.
The two Brit Flicks "The Full Monty" and it's wife "Calendar Girls" are very cute, gentle & easy to watch Im a Brit Flick fan have you gone through the whole catalogs of Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Helena Bonham Carter? (Remains of the Day, etc...) Emma Thompson's recent movie "Good Luck To You, Leo Grande" was excellent and I recommend it Also that Liv Tyler one was SO SO GOOD- "Stealing Beauty" Hope my recs were good
I watched “ Death of a Unicorn “ on Netflix the other night. It was a pleasant surprise. Unique and funny. Highly recommended
Not a recent movie, but one that I watched recently: 5 to 7. It's about a young writer that meets a married French woman. He's looking for a relationship, but she's looking for an affair. Both the husband and wife have affairs from the hours of 5 to 7pm and both are supportive of it as long as it doesn't go past those hours since that would intrude on their family life. It's one of Anton Yelich's last films.
After woking on films like this for decades, everything is a huge anticlimax these days. This trailer is a rare insight of how starting with an orchestral soundtrack and playing it on a few loudspeaker stands everything comes together.
Watched "The Raven" with John Cusack to get ready for my Edgar Allan Poe night - definitely recommend.
Oh, in case you're ever thinking about a Marvel movie - "Thunderbolts" really surprised me - a bit darker than a regular superhero movie, tackling some tough subject matter.
One Battle After Another - I thought it was fantastic. For a 2 hours and 45 minutes movie, I thought the pacing was great. The music score added a lot of tension. The acting was great. I've liked Paul Thomas Anderson since I first saw Hard Eight. I loved Boogie Nights and Magnolia. This is probably his best movie. It's about a guy and his daughter on the run from a fascist government because he was in a revolutionary group. It's thrilling and also funny. It's also a little scary considering the direction of this country. Anyway, I'm sure I will see it again.
Probably a movie this site will Love very much and That is 'PineApple Express' starring Seth Rogen and James Franco. I first watched it around 2008 in the movie theaters with a good friend of mine, I laugh hysterically and it's still funny on a good Sunday evening when there's not much to do, on this very day. I like the ending where they all sit around the coffee table and casually talk as if nothing just freakin happened lol
