This cute fun song is from 1965 but it was originally sung by a guy named Crawford in 1953. It's something about New Orleans culture and some local 'Indians'(?) that inspired the song and some of the lyrics. I'm posting the 'official' Dixie Cups lyrics below the video.... so we can sing along!

This is a pumped version by the Belle Stars from 1989. Her voice doesn't come through the music very well at first, but it gets a little better.

 

One of my sweetie's favorites, he loves trying to sing it. I think this is his #1 by the Four Seasons and I love it too!

 

LOVE that song. I think those guys were actually the first Punk rockers This one is just barely the 60s, 1969....

When I was 8 or 9 years old (about 1992-93) someone in our school found that song, and for the rest of the school year we tried our best during recess to get the lyrics right. It was a fun song!

 

My sweetie's favorite song to karaoke. Every time I hear this it either brings me goosebumps, or tears, or both. The most amazing 'rock' voice I have ever heard, Bobby Hatfield, RIP...
