My favourite xmas tradition is to celebrate it with some close friends in the summer and fuck off on a holiday to some foreign shore for two or three weeks during the official xmas new years silly season thus completely avoiding all the traditional bullshit gladhanding and materialistic clap trap. Alright for many to weather the circus but definitely not my cuppa tea. No worries all my friends and family have known my proclivities when it comes to all the official holidays - Easter and Thanksgiving included - no ill will on my part ( I send cards but they are not based on whatever the particular event is about - for Christmas / New Years one time I sent everybody 'Get Well Soon' cards.
To mark someone's wedding I sent the happy couple a commiserations card.
I sent someone 5 years of birthday cards in one bunch stating I was covered for that time period and it was up to them when they read them.
I was a deparment manager for a large Department store. I gave all of my staff xmas cards congratulating them on their retirement. ( none of them were older than 50 and most were teen to 30 something)

Me too especially when the kids help, and they’re really fucking old. But they like making them when they are in town.

Eating at a Chinese buffet for Christmas or Christmas Eve dinner. (Unfortunately I am only half joking with this one) it was fun though.

Unsure what I will do this year. Most of (not all of though) the people who (unfortunately) share DNA with me are awful people. But I have an SO and some other actually good people now/again. So I am not sure yet what will happen. The thought of Chinese buffets on Christmas/Eve will always make me smile. I hope to have more normal traditions someday. I won't go into a rant and be bitter, but I have some real pos "family members"
