Just got back home today from a week down at Haulover Beach. This was the first time I've been back in 5 years. I can't remember if Haulover was labeled as clothing optional or nude 5 years ago. I seem to remember the signs at the beach entry ways saying "you might encounter nude bathers" or something like that. Now the signs say "clothing optional". The reason I ask is that 5 years ago the beach was mainly nudist, at least that week I was down there. This time there seemed to be many more either in regular swimming attire or even walking around fully clothed especially on Saturday. It just seemed like there were more gawkers I guess is what you would call them. Saturday I'm up at the food truck waiting on my order along with maybe two other nude people and 4 either high school age or maybe college age boys walked up fully dressed and not for the beach. Sneakers, socks, regular shorts, t-shirts. It looked to me like they had no intention of using the beach other than to look at the nude people.
I noticed the same thing at Gunnison Beach. It's a long walk to Gunny, much farther than the other beaches at Sandy Hook, yet more people are going and staying dressed.
Same thing happening at Wreck Beach in Vancouver. years ago, they would ask you to leave if you stayed dressed !
