I was actually talking to my therapist about this in 2011. I have a silent gallstone. For some time now, but it has never caused me problems. My doctor tells me it will probably never pass. But if it did my understanding is, it would be very painful. I told my therapist that if I ended up in the emergency room, why don't they just sedate me right away? He said they probably would eventually. But to me, that would be the best solution to urgent, extreme pain. Because I have a very low tolerance for pain. And it is your tolerance for pain that dictates now bad the experience is for you. I was also thinking of people who are in terminal pain. If their lives are about to end some people believe in assisted suicide and others say that hospice care is the solution to that. I say, why not just put them in a medically induced coma until they die? Maybe months, even years? People are sometimes in comas for years. And in that state they would still be alive, if assisted suicide is not legal where they live. But they would feel no pain. Thoughts?
