is it socially acceptible for two 17 year olds to go into a pub or bar in dublin/london/paris/amsterdam and drink there? what exactly is the deal with age and alcohol in europe, anyone know?
in london (and rest of uk) it's 18, but some pubs are lax....if you look 18 you may get away with it. just act casual, dont draw attention to yourself, and if they ask for id just say you have none, and order something thats not alcoholic or something
In the Netherlands the legal age for drinking 'light' alcohol like beer is 16 and for the stronger ones 18. Nobody cares really, so you are fine as long as you do not look like you are 10. I never saw anyone been asked for an ID in a pub or bar. But then again, I do not live in Amsterdam where things might be stricter than in other parts of the Netherlands.
my nephew can order drinks and hes 13 he is a giant and really doesnt look is age but I think its pretty cool
In France, you can get in at 16 or younger if you look old enough... no ones cares, no one will ever ask you your ID!
I don't think you should have any problems anywhere, honestly. Europeans generally aren't strict at all when it comes to drinking, though there was this one time...........
In my country, according to law: 18. But each pub / bar can decide if they want more mature guests, so they are allowed to put the limit up to 21. And there are many nightclubs / discoteques who don't give a shit if their guests are 13 or 25, just as long they spend alot of money. So it's easy to go at bars and pubs here, if you're not 18 yet.
in italy nobody really cares at what age do u have from the time u pay ur drinks... i started going to pubs when i was 14 and nobody ever told me anything..
