Masturbation -mainly a male thing?

There are always plenty of males on forums discussing masturbation- while doing it. Lots of one hand typing I imagine! And I have also found women ( well they claim to be and have female profiles, but who knows?) who also like to masturbate. Is it just males who have this need to talk about it or need an audience?
Are women just as busy in private ..with their privates?
If a genuine woman goes on here and mentions masturbation I suspect she will be inundated with drooling males wanting to connect, so maybe that is why they don't put themselves out there.
Of course a girl wanting to attract other girls is going to post, but probably on a lesbians only forum.

 

Personally, I find it so normalized and almost mundane that there really isn't much to say about it.

It's like talking about eating or sleeping or something.

 

I wish more females would post about their masturbation. I know women masturbate it would just be awesome if they would talk about masturbating .

Obviously, it's not mainly a male thing - you just don't see a lot of women talking about it on forums like this - but guys, um, yeah, we like to talk about masturbating and talking about it can be said to be "mainly" a guy thing. True enough: A woman comes in here and joins the fellas in talking about the joys of masturbation and there will be guys all over her like flies on shit so, yeah, that kinda explains why you don't see many females talking about this or anything else all that sexual when there are a bunch of men around.

My sisters masturbated; every woman I'd ever been with except one masturbated and that one said, "Why should I get myself off when I can get someone like you to get me off?" and... I thought she had a point at the time, but my lady is post-menopausal, and she masturbates with that rose thingy that she has, and she doesn't think that I know about it (or the other three toys she has) but if I were to ask her about it, she would categorically deny that she gets herself off. It's like the Princess said: It's like talking about sleeping or eating...

 

I would never ever talk about it with another man, but I do ask my girlfriends what toys they use.

 

A woman once told me that she never lets a guy know that she masturbates because he wants to get involved in something that doesn't have a thing to do with him - and she only told me this because we were talking about masturbation in general terms and along the lines of those who say they don't do it are doing it on the DL and, well, she said that if asked, she wouldn't answer but she was on the DL getting herself off big time and... I respected that and the fact that she even shared that with me because when I want to pleasure myself, the last thing I want or need is a woman giving me grief about it and asking me why I gotta be doing something like that and, um, do you know nothing about human sexuality?

I'd beg to differ on the point of this being inhibition - it's about privacy and women, for some reason, carry a lot of shame about masturbating and way more than men do so I understand a woman who wouldn't want to openly talk about her masturbatory habits with a man - and you damned well know how we can get - but if it's personal and private and not for "public" consumption, then it is what it is and being inhibited has nothing to do with it because, as I understand it, inhibited women do not masturbate.
