Why do people support drug laws? Especially drug laws criminalizing private possession? I used to, but I am not sure why. I seem to recall I thought those kinds of people were evil. They aren't. Some of them are your friends, your neighbors, your family members. So why do most people support them? And what is their purpose to begin with? Like I tell people if someone were selling penicillin illegally, it would be treated as a regulatory offense. Not a serious felony. Especially if a person were just found in possession of illegal penicillin.

I know people sometimes say the same thing about sex crimes. And sex crimes when they involve consenting adults in private are pretty stupid. But sex crimes laws are there to protect people and society sometimes, even if they are arbitrary sometimes. And there is a move to make some of them less arbitrary and more rational. Also some sex crimes like pimping and pandering seem victimles. But they usually involve exploitation. (BTW, pimping and pandering isn't really even technically a sex crime at all, when you think about it.)

A combination of self righteousness and lack of critical thinking.

The average person has little to zero actual influence over most laws as many of them have carried over since the beginning of "civilization". The powers that be only change the laws gradually - unless they are threatened with being overthrown or taken over from within

It’s usually an argument about protection look at the damage it does to the people on them as well as the damage they to others. I would prefer a lot more drugs to be legalized and taxed to put the profits towards help for addiction just my own 2 cents

I fear that the Trump Feds will try to squash all efforts to legitimize psilocybin therapy in the U.S.

Canada has been following Britain's lead, with research projects verifying P's effectiveness in self-exploration and therapy. With your pro-Canada feelings, and your opinion about the drug topic, I invite you, princess peedge, to a thread I've tried to start: Psilocybin & legit/legal research
