Do you think people would laugh as much if the recorded crowd laughter wasn't present on sitcoms? When people go 'LMAO' before a post, is it kind of the same thing?
lmao. Anyway, I think its weird that people use lol so much, even when they are not laughing. they use it to lighten heavy comments i think. like. im scared of commitment. lol or do you want to fuck? lol so they can say later they were joking Peace Love and lmao Amanda
I think you're right on that part, ambiguity as a possible defense.. As for sitcoms, if it's funny I'm sure people would laugh just as much, I find the recorded laughter annoying.
in AIM messages i say "heh" and "hahaha", i refuse to say "lol". On certain shows i think people would laugh equal amounts if the laugh tracks weren't there. Other ones...like that stupid george lopez show i'd have to say that w/o laugh tracks no one would laugh.. South Park is a good example..i still laugh my balls off at that and there are no laugh tracks.
sometimes I type LoL or heeheehee without laughing, but after I click out of the thread my brain will replay the entire transmission in about 2 seconds and I will see the hysterical part and start laughing! hahahaha! I actually laughed for real right as I started typing 'h' for hysterical... hahaha that time too ahahahaha!! that was real too!! oh shit gotta run away
