The opposite of 'Trump will fix it'.

Trump intentionally breaks it and then says it may not be possible for him to fix it.

Justice Barrett opinion used to push SCOTUS to reinstate block of Trump funding freeze that exacerbates ’emergency of their own making’

'Unheard of': Justice Barrett opinion used to push Supreme Court to block Trump funding freeze

    excerpt:

“The government comes to this Court with an emergency of its own making,” plaintiffs wrote in the 24-page opposition filing to the government. “The district court gave the government every opportunity to demonstrate what steps it was taking to release foreign-assistance funding, as the TRO required, and to explain any practical impediments it faced in pursuing compliance. But even by the time of the district court’s February 25 hearing — nearly two weeks after the TRO had issued — government counsel could not identify a single action the government had taken in the twelve days since the TRO to release frozen funds.”

Musk demands that federal employees email him on their accomplishments each week to avoid being fired by him.

Yet the Trump administration over two weeks coudn't produce any reasons to the federal court why it couldn't comply with a court order to reinstate the federal funding that Musk terminated.

Moreover, the U.S. Supreme Court, like the cavalry, once again came to Trump's rescue just a couple hours before the federal court deadline to reinstate the funding and said the termination of the federal money could continue, at least temporarily.

Chief Justice Roberts said that the funding, if reinstated, might get into the wrong hands (currently it's in the wrong hands of Trump) and also that it is connected to foreign policy because it's foreign funding, which may interfere with Trump's power to conduct foreign policy.

Part of the argument for reinstating the funding that Trump terminated.

'Unheard of': Justice Barrett opinion used to push Supreme Court to block Trump funding freeze

    excerpt:

Plaintiffs, who are represented in the matter by the Public Citizen Litigation Group, argue that the Trump administration’s funding pause has led to “extraordinary and irreversible harm” to those around the world who depend on their work and “threaten the very existence” of companies and charities that have collaborated with the federal government for decades.

“Respondents have had to furlough or lay off employees, and some are facing cancellation of credit lines, civil and regulatory actions for employment violations, evictions, insolvency, and even physical threats to personnel in conflict areas,” plaintiffs wrote. “The government’s continued noncompliance with the district court’s TRO forced one respondent to lay off 110 employees yesterday. Another will default on severance obligations, triggering civil liability and potential regulatory enforcement, if it does not receive payment for past work by today. Meanwhile, many of those who depend on respondents’ programming face starvation, disease, and death.”

But the U.S. funding might have been used for a drag queen show overseas; therefore, all of it was cut off immediately and supposedly can't be reinstated because it might get into even more wrong hands than the alleged initial wrong hands (while being in the wrong hands of Trump withholding it).

Trump received a break from the courts in NY to lower the bond amount against him for the civil fraud conviction of him from $454 million to $175 million because he might have had to sell some of his businesses to produce the money. Trump eventually found Hankey's Knight Specialty Insurance Co. (Hankey has said he is a supporter of Trump) to help him and loan him the money for the bond whose amount the court had reduced to help Trump. Trump was helped at least twice.

Yet Trump as president has immediately and needlessly cut off billions of dollars of government money to businesses and groups that relied up them, possibly even ending some of them.

The U.S. Supreme Court has accepted the issue and it's not known when it will decide what to do about it, which keeps to funding from being reinstated and delays the issue in Trump's favor at least temporarily.

Trump administration accused of sidestepping court rulings amid spree of legal losses

    excerpt:

"A federal judge in California on Thursday ordered OPM to rescind a memo and email telling agencies to get rid of probationary employees. The directions, communicated in a Jan. 20 memo and Feb. 14 internal email, are “illegal” and “should be stopped, rescinded,” Judge William Alsup said.

“The Office of Personnel Management does not have any authority whatsoever under any statute in the history of the universe, to hire and fire employees within another agency,” the judge found. “It can hire its own employees, yes. Can fire them. But it cannot order or direct some other agency to do so,” Alsup said.

His ruling did not reinstate the thousands of employees who have already been dismissed, but it came ahead of expected terminations at the Defense Department Friday of probationary employees —largely workers who've been in a job for less than two years."

Wyden is not pleased with Trump's firing of federal workers and with the GOP being timid now about holding town halls because the public is starting to turn on Trump.

Trump calls for ‘ceasefire now’ between Russia and Ukraine

    excerpt:

U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden says he’ll skip Trump’s primetime address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday and instead hold an online town hall.

“In this unprecedented time in American history, my top priority is making sure Oregonians from every corner of our state can keep weighing in directly with me,” he said in a statement Friday.

On the social media site Bluesky this week, Wyden shared a news article outlining wariness from some House Republicans about hosting town halls and facing constituents angry with the administration.

“Cowards, every single one of them,” Wyden wrote.

Trump and Zelenskyy key takeaways: Oval Office meeting explodes into shouting match

    excerpt:

Prior to the blow-up between the leaders, Zelenskyy had harsh words for Putin.

"I really count on your strong position to stop Putin," Zelenskyy said to Trump. "And you said that enough with the war. I think that's very important being to say these words to Putin at the very beginning, at the very beginning of war, because he is a killer and terrorist. But I hope that together we can stop him."

The comments come amid the radical shift in U.S. foreign policy that saw the U.S. first hold peace talks with Russian counterparts. Trump has called Zelenskyy a "dictator" but has declined to call Putin the same. On Thursday, Trump said he trusts Putin to "keep his word" if a deal is reached.

Trump and Zelenskyy key takeaways: Oval Office meeting explodes into shouting match

    excerpt:

On Friday, Trump claimed that he wasn't "aligned" with Putin.

"I'm not aligned with Putin. I'm not aligned with anybody. I'm aligned with the United States of America, and for the good of the world. I'm alive with the world, and I want to get this thing over with," Trump said.

But he then seemed to suggest Zelenskyy was a major obstacle in negotiations: "You see the hatred he's got for Putin? It's very tough for me to make a deal with that kind of hate."

Trump is upset that Zelensky said the U.S. would feel the effects down the road if Putin takes over Ukraine.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/02/28/trump-ukraine-russia-zelensky/

    excerpt:

“First of all, during the war everybody has problems. Even you,” Zelensky said. “But you have nice ocean and don’t feel now, but you will feel it in the future.”

That appeared to infuriate Trump, who repeatedly blasted the Ukrainian leader.

“You don’t know that. Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel. You’re in no position to dictate that,” he said, his voice rising.

“You’re right now not in a very good position. You’ve allowed yourself to be in a very bad position,” he added. “You don’t have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards.”

“I’m not playing cards. I’m very serious, Mr. President,” Zelensky responded. “I’m very serious.”

Vance joined back in, asking: “Have you said thank you once, in this entire meeting?”

Zelensky said he has often thanked the American people for their support in the war effort. As Zelensky tried to speak again, Trump interrupted him.

“Wait a minute. No, no, you’ve done a lot of talking,” Trump said. “Your country is in big trouble.”

Trump eventually ordered reporters out of the room and, as they were leaving, offered an aside.

“This is going to be great television,” he said. “I will say that.”

    McFaul comment.

Trump White House and Zelenskyy Remain at Odds After ‘Spat’: Live Updates

    excerpt:

Michael McFaul, the former U.S. ambassador to Russia under President Barack Obama, denounced the encounter on social media:

"Letting Putin conquer Ukraine is not in American national interests. It's not putting America first. It will lead to more conflict all over the world. Today is a great day for Putin and Xi, and bad day for all people in the world who support freedom and stand against tyranny.

Lindsey Graham's remarks about the Trump-Zelensky meeting.

As usual, he paid homage to Trump, even though in past decades Graham has been critical of Putin.

Trump is upset that Zelensky spoke critically of his buddy, Putin.

Trump White House and Zelenskyy Remain at Odds After ‘Spat’: Live Updates

    excerpt:

Trump also suggested that if Zelenskyy wanted to restart negotiations, he needed to stop complaining about Putin: “He’s gotta say ‘I want to make peace.’ He doesn’t have to stand there and say, ‘Putin this, Putin that,’ all negative things. He’s gotta say…’I don’t want to fight a war any longer.’”

After the meeting, Trump said that all Zelensky wants to do is "fight, fight, fight."

Just after the assassination attempt on him, Trump blurted "fight, fight, fight." It became one of his campaign slogans.

Trump is upset about what could be referred to as Zelensky using a mild version of Trump's approach: bodacious and asking for something that he might not immediately receive.

Zelensky just wanted some assurance from Trump that the U.S. would provide security for Ukraine in return for Ukraine giving its minerals to the U.S.

Yet Trump and his associates are outraged when it can be perceived that Zelensky used a less aggressive verson of an approach that Trump uses all the time, like Trump's insulting of trading partners and allies Mexico and Canada, slapping tariffs on them, and in the days preceeding his meeting with Zelensky calling Zelensky a dictator (a comment Trump later said he couldn't remember making).

Trump, who has said he has the world's best memory, can't remember that he called Zelensky a dictator last week.

Trump also couldn't remember that he said he had the world's best memory.

Trump says 'I can't believe I said that' when asked if he still thinks Zelenskyy is a dictator

    excerpt:

"President Donald Trump was asked several times on Thursday about comments he made last week, when he called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a "dictator," though he oftentimes either ignored the question or could not remember making the statement."
