The intersection of nudism and exhibitionism

I tend to think of exhibitionism is exposing genitals to an unsuspecting and unwilling person. It could be traumatizing and not a good practice.

I see nudism as something else. I think many nudists enjoy throwing off the conventional rules and baring all. And yes, if no one looked at us, we wouldn’t be breaking society’s rules. We also wouldn’t be getting the positive self esteem rewards from letting people see a body that is far less than perfect and saying “I don’t give F…! This is me and I accept myself”

JH93022 I think we have a similar outlook on at least a few things. I agree very much with the overlaps-in-life idea. I become exasperated with discussions that quickly become mired in either/or, it has to be this or that- not some of both.

Apart from the "clinical" pathological variety, I think there's a wide range of enjoyment of seeing and being seen. By different people, or the same person on different days and in different situations. Speaking for myself, I have sometimes wanted to be seen, other times not. It's fun to get a compliment, whether it's for a haircut, a new car, an article of clothing, or how one looks without clothing...

 

My (current) wife started out very reserved; but she's fortunately very social. Interacting with naked, confident women actually provided her the motivation to be naked in front of them. And as we started making friends at the resort, she became more and more comfortable socializing naked.
It doesn't always happen that way though. It can take several trips to the nudist venue and hanging out with the same people.

 

I've enjoyed being naked outdoors since my teens. I'd frequently get naked at night and go outside in the backyard or even a few times during the day. I'd go out into the forest or nearby green spaces and get naked and go for walks at night. My mom and my neighbor noticed a couple of times - I thought I would die of embarrassment. How could I explain something so ... perverted?

I really thought that I was an exhibitionist, and I really thought that an exhibitionist was one of those guys you see in the movies walking around naked in trench coats waiting for the opportunity to open their coat and expose themselves to some unsuspecting woman. Nevermind that I didn't actually want to do something so antisocial to anyone - I just thought that if I indulged my "exhibitionist" nature that eventually I would wind up in that trench coat.

Eventually as an adult I got into nudism and I realized how much I love being naked. I love being naked outdoors and feeling the air and the sun and the wind against my skin. And I love being naked in social situations. But interestingly enough, even though I refer to myself as an "exhibitionist", I don't think that I really fit the bill.

I go on a lot of naked bike rides and I'm actually a bit uneasy about strangers seeing me naked in those events - or at least that's not the "thrill". I think what I really love is being naked in spaces where I would normally have clothes on. If I could walk around downtown completely naked or ride my bike completely naked and no one would see me, that would be my ideal situation. I just love being naked outdoors and it just breaks my heart that I can't be casually naked to go shopping or bicycling around the city or taking a walk in the park.

 

I also enjoyed being nude growing up. I could only be nude if I had the house to myself and that didn't happen too often. I would go outside nude at night and walk around and hope neighbors didn't see me. I enjoy nude barefoot hikes in the woods. I also enjoy driving nude in the summer on the weekends when there is less traffic. I would love to be able to go out in public barefoot and nude and not get arrested.

 

You know, now that I think about it a bit more, I really am an exhibitionist. It really is quite thrilling having clothed people see me naked. But it's not my primary motivation to bike or walk around naked. I just love the physical feeling of being naked outside.

 

I don't think your an exhibitionist as such, just like me I do the same thing, as does many nudist/naturists, and I think most people that are naturists, do the same thing given the chance.

Here in the you UK, we have the right to express are selves as naturist. But the Government and police, don't advertise that fact.

I also go for a drive in the countryside and walks in the countryside and woods with paths and feels so free and invigorating and I've been seen a few times and no bad experiences NICE.

 

So do most naturists, given the chance.

 

Yeah unfortunately I live in Canada, one of the few rich countries in the world to ban nudism nationally. People have actually been arrested for going topless in their own backyards.

I go down to Seattle quite a bit where public nudity, unbeknownst to most people, is actually completely legal. I've ridden around naked on my bike all over the place there at night, and during the day on group rides.

I'm trying to work up the courage to do a walk or a brief bike ride naked downtown by myself. But in a way, it's more sort of a bucket-list kind of thing - I don't think I'd do it more than once or twice.

That feels pretty exhibitionist to me, really.

 

I understand your frustration as I've said it is legal to be naked in public here in the UK.

The laws changed in 1985, so people that phone the police should be informed aslong as now lewed acts are taking place, there has been no offences being committed.

 

I think this all part off just being in a loving relationship, that many other loving Copplestone, do what they both like to do in each other's company. I think this is just normal, in my opinion.

I think life would be so much better, if the so called adult just live and let live.

I don't feel that I am in any way an exhibitionist, but I have to admit that there is a certain thrill about being naked in an area where you might be seen. It doesn't feel sexual, but there is an arousal feel to it. So maybe?......

 

I tend to look at it in a similar fashion. There is most definitely a thrill to it sometimes. My friend on the other hand really enjoys being nude in public and she loves being looked at.
