https://www.politico.com/news/2025/01/08/canada-new-state-electoral-college-001966 excerpt: "With Canada’s 47 electoral votes (45 House seats + 2 senators), Democrats would enter an election with 253 seats, Republicans would have 202, and there’d be 85 up for grabs. The Democratic nominee would need just 18 electoral votes to get to 271 and clinch a majority of what are now 540 votes in the Electoral College. That would require a minimum of just two battlegrounds, while Republicans would need to win at least five. That’s a daunting disadvantage for Republicans, but not an insurmountable one. Trump, after all, would still have won. But 2028 would sure be interesting — especially once Greenland becomes the 52nd state."
‘There are a lot of bitter people here, I’m one of them’: rust belt voters on why they backed Trump again despite his broken promises excerpt: Some anti-Trump voters, conversely, agree that the Democrats have abandoned the working class but believe that backing Trump is the worst possible answer. “I never liked Trump even when he was only a builder in New York … because he stiffed union workers and he generally seemed like a douche bag,” said Tim O’Hara, a former president of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union at Lordstown. “One thing I wasn’t then and I’m not now is a racist, misogynistic, uninformed dipshit who enjoys supporting a rapist, felon, traitor … These people have no clue yet what they’ve done, but they will find out.”
The people near Youngstown received cases of Trump bottled water when he visited the train wreck in February 2023.
Article from October 2019. 'He lied.' Ohio voters struggle after Trump promised jobs excerpt: "LORDSTOWN, Ohio — Voters in industrial northeast Ohio have not forgotten a particular promise President Donald Trump made when he visited the region soon after taking office. Manufacturing jobs are “all coming back,” Trump said. “Don’t move. Don’t sell your house.” “He lied,” said Trish Amato, who worked at a General Motors plant in the area that stopped production earlier this year. “He told everybody it’s all coming back,” said Amato. “It’s not. It’s harder and harder to find a job.” Amato, who voted for Trump in 2016 but is having misgivings about supporting him next year, is one of hundreds of workers at the Lordstown plant who lost their jobs, and in many cases sold their homes and left the region, since Trump’s speech in Youngstown in mid-2017."
Trump will fix it. Article from October 2020. How Trump Betrayed the Autoworkers of Youngstown, Ohio excerpt: I rode through your beautiful roads coming up from the airport. And I was looking at some of those big, once-incredible, job-producing factories, and Melania said, “What happened?” I said, “Those jobs have left Ohio . . . but they’re all coming back.” Don’t move. Don’t sell your house. — President Donald Trump, Youngstown, Ohio, 2017
Trump's return to power has old critics and skeptics reconciling with a new 'normal' excerpt: "Meta’s moves are among the most noteworthy. The company plans to elevate Republican Joel Kaplan to lead its global policy team, and on Monday it added Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White, a Trump ally, to its board. Meta also announced it was ending a fact-checking program and replacing it with a community-driven system similar to the one Trump ally Elon Musk’s X uses. And Zuckerberg boasted that the company was relocating content moderators from liberal California to ruby red Texas."
The man known as the Pizzagate gunman has been killed by police during a traffic stop. 'Pizzagate' gunman killed by police during traffic stop in North Carolina excerpt: "The "pizzagate" gunman who fired his rifle in a Washington, D.C., pizza restaurant in 2016, acting on a debunked conspiracy theory, has died after police shot him in a traffic stop. Edgar Maddison Welch was shot by police over the weekend and died from his injuries Monday, authorities in North Carolina said Thursday. Almost 10 years ago, Welch made national headlines when he traveled to the nation's capital from North Carolina and fired shots in the Comet Ping Pong restaurant, spurred by a conspiracy theory that had spread online."
He was the person who stormed a restaurant in December 2016 with guns to try to locate children that conspiracy narratives said were being held hostage by prominent Democrats as part of a sex trafficking ring.. 2016 was the year of the presidential race of Trump vs. Clinton and known for the spreading of narratives about Hillary Clinton's emails by various groups and by Trump. The conspiracy narratives centered around Hillary Clinton whose emails that conspiracy enthusiast claimed had coded messages about Clinton and a child sex trafficking ring. Trump injected himself into the narratives by claiming Hillary's deleted emails were on a server of a computer somewhere in Ukraine. Trump also invited Russia to release Hillary's deleted emails (that he claimed it had) and said that the media would reward Russia for it.
I find it telling the only people who believe in Trump are the same people who believe in these deluded fantasies.
I hope we can lock this thread before 2029 Donald trump and his disciples are more obnoxious than the bro-country that they listen to.
Trump has tapped into people and got them to vote for him because of a belief of a better America, that he says he will deliver. But the truth is he will not and he is a power hungry billionaire that now has the wealthiest man on the planet helping him. Do you honestly think he’s going to make your life better ? Look what he did in his first term. He will not bring down the price of gas because oil futures and Exxon manipulation of the production cycle will never make that happen, oh and Trump invests in oil markets so he’s not going to take money out of his own pocket. Why do you think he’s touting drill drill drill, not for you but for people like him. He already has said he probably won’t bring down the cost of food, which was one of the key points in his campaign. He’s not even in office yet and I am loathing the next four years, not because I am a Democrat but because I cannot believe Trump and Harris were our only two options, and they were both bad.
I don’t thin kHarris was bad, but she was all there was at the moment. Considering her being thrust on stage with only a few months to campaign, I think she did well to lose by such a slim margin. The democrats really need to realign their campaign platforms and find a very exciting candidate. The other team has momentum, even if it’s fueled by foolishness.
This is the place with the tanker train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. where seeming indifference was exhibited Washington. This is the place where Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown was up for re-election in 2024.
The Democrats need to promote violence, hatred, lies, misogyny, racism, expansionism, guns, and love for dictators.....then they have a chance of winning over most 'Mericans.
Trump says countries should give up their land to Trump because he wants it. Trump's tariff threat against Denmark risks showdown with European Union excerpt: "Trump at a press conference last week told reporters that the U.S. needs Greenland "for national security purposes," claiming that "people really don't even know if Denmark has any legal right to it, but if they do, they should give it up, because we need it for national security purposes." Trump then said he would "tariff Denmark at a very high level" if the country refused to let the U.S. buy Greenland, which is an autonomous island in the Arctic Circle."
