I've gone on record that pardons are good things. avoid recrimination. allow better bi-partianship. Move-on to real busines of State.

Its been a quiet thread for a sitting President.

    For a President granting a plethora of pardons. Many: Good;
Some:Questionabe. And Yes he pardoned his Son, Yes. It is OK with me.

For the Gamblers her I am asking for Odds..

    Yes.. A betting line.............

What are the chances that Our Presidents Brother, James Biden will receive a blanket pardon ?

The late George Adamson of "Born Free" fame was once quoted as saying:

"......Man is the most destructive creature on the Earth............"

Also, recall now "Cornelius", reading from the "Sacred Scrolls" (Planet Of The Apes").......

"......beware the beast Man, for he is the Devil's spawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport, or lust, or greed........yea, he will murder his brother to pocess his brother's land......"

    'nuff said....................:(

I still maintain that President Biden has been a great president. In reviewing the life of Jimmy Carter, I have also elevated his presidency, but moreso, his life, as so good. He should go down as honored and well-treated by historians. I hope the same will be said for the man who served between the two unusually narcissistic terms of Trump. History will tell an incredible story of these years which we are living through now.

    Papa:

    AGREED 100%!

I personally feel as though I am saying "goodbye" to a much-loved favorite uncle, with Biden now leaving the White House; like yourself, I truly believe he was one of our greatest Presidents.

Just look at how much good he accomplished, in his four years as our leader.

I had always known that Jimmy Carter was a good man of good upstanding character, but, not until after his death, did I realize what a truly great man he truly was, indeed, a humanitarian for the ages.........

I hope I stick around long enough to see this time period treated as "history." As a child growing up in the Reagan years, my family's opinion of him was in stark contrast to from the decent, hard working, economy-saving, beloved cowboy as he was portrayed at the time.

After his death, when he became subject of historical review, his true legacy--one of racism, inequality, and the typical tax-cuts-for-the-rich-and-fuck-the-poor approach to the economy--was the Reagan my family complained about when I was a child growing up. Today, he is almost vilified.

I can't imagine history will be kind to Trump, and I hope I am around to see future generations' interpretation of him. Then I can be the old lady who huffs and says, "Yeah? We'll, I lived through it!"

Interesting your assessment of Reagan... I recently saw or read on a social media site/news that Reagan sent people to negotiate with the Iranians over the hostage deal - while at the same time our State Department and Carter were conducting official negotiations. The person who was interviewed about this was part of the Reagan staff - and he said that Reagan communicated to the Iranians to not release the hostages, and that Reagan as president would offer a better deal to the Iranians once he was elected.
As it turns out, the hostages were released on Inauguration Day after Reagan was sworn in.
As it turns out, that is called Treason... amongst other things.

My late mother had a saying she often used:

"......a lot of the time, you don't realize what a good thing you have until you don't have it anymore......"

IMHO, this indeed also refers to both our current (outgoing) President, Mr. Joseph Biden, as well as the (RIP) late Jimmy Carter.

I'm also willing to wager that MORE than a few are going to miss Joe Biden MORE than they ever realized, a few weeks hence..............how much we all take for granted..........

Trump screws things up, Biden comes in and spends 4 years fixing it, Trump blames Biden for the situation, he gets re-elected and now he'll screw things up even worse. The inmates are running the asylum!

I well recall, the day after Biden was inuagurated, photos showing him his desk, surrounded by MOUNTAINS of documents and paperwork, trying to at least sift through the morass left after Trump departed (these pictures alone spoke volumes)

Recall, also, the thousands that died during the height of COVID; recall, at the onset, a certain Cheif Executive referring to COVID as "fake news".

I could be wrong, but, I believe that had Biden then been in office, that the COVID death toll would not have been as steep as it was.

Recall, also, that, when Biden entered office, he wasted no time in combating COVID with whatevber was in his power.

And, today, look at how much progress (COVID-wise) we've made since Biden took office, four years ago.

I truly shudder when I think of what the next four years will be like..................

I would have pardoned Hunter without a doubt. I would not have promised "not to" beforehand.

I'm glad the Ronald Reagan myth is dying . It has to do with the Iran / Contra scandal of playing both side on the War on Drugs, Terrorism and the fact that his campaign manager had secrete meeting with Iranians to hold the Tehran Embassy Hostages until the 1980 Election, to beat then President Jimmy Carter ( RIP).

In a few more years, he will be viewed as second, in Criminality to Donald Trump.
