I chalk it up to societal pressure. TOO MANY PEOPLE!
    No personal space or privacy.
Rigid social constructs requiring total obedience to the state.
It is a future that Trump hopes to bring to all of us.

The Supreme Court has heard two major Second Amendment cases in three years, but no rest for the weary: This month the Justices are expected to consider whether to take Snope v. Brown, an appeal challenging a Maryland law that bans the sale and possession of “assault weapons.” That includes the AR-15 style, sometimes called America’s most popular rifle.

The Fourth Circuit Appeals Court upheld the law this summer in a 10-5 en banc ruling. Guns such as the AR-15, Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III writes in that opinion, “fall outside the ambit of protection offered by the Second Amendment because,in essence, they are military-style weapons designed for sustained combat operations that are ill-suited and disproportionate to the need for self-defense.” He says Maryland’s law “fits comfortably within our nation’s tradition of firearms regulation,” as a state regulation of “excessively dangerous weapons.”

It just came to my attention recently that the mass shooter is a girl, and that there has been nine such female shooters in the past. This is a bit incredible for me as females usually have an instinct for non-violence and compassion .

I had listened a few days back to a video of a spiritual master stating that the balance between the masculine and feminine (or yin yang) in the world is overwhelmingly in favor of the masculine, around 85 percent, and even women are now imitating masculine values and traits. The feminine does not have much space for creative expression in the world at the moment. This obviously must lead to a grosser and more conflict-prone world.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

Here we go again with just example of the maniacs who can't seem to get their hands on a gun or is it just because the automobile is their weapon of choice?

Guns are the weapon of choice because of their portability and efficiency. According to figures compiled by USA Today, nearly one-quarter of mass murders in the U.S. from 2005 to 2016 were committed without guns, https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2015/10/03/mass-killers-use-other-weapons-besides-guns/73213860/ which is another way of saying over three-quarters were committed with them. The favorite alternatives were fire, stabbings and blunt instruments. The 1974 mass murders at a New Orleans gay bar was accomplished by fire started by lighter fluid. The expression "running amok" comes from the common practice in Indonesia of picking up a machete and hacking every bystanders. Right here in OKlahoma we had a mass murder by automobile at OSU homecoming back in 2015. A waitress at a local fast food restaurant drove her car into a crowd of spectators, killing four. Why? We still don't know. Maybe she didn't like her tip. she said: “I was suffering from psychosis that day.” The vehicle killer in Germany was a Saudi Muslim psychiatrist (no less), with a seemingly Jihadist motive.

Where there's a will, there's a way. But firearms make it easier. The U.S. leads the world in civilian firearms possession--120.5 per 100 residents in 2018. The nearest runner-up was Yemen, with 52.8. How many US mass shootings have there been in 2024?

All very true and I must agree, but if all guns suddenly became unavailable, other methods of mass murder would increase by a 1000%.
Like you said, where there's a will, there's a way, so................

That didn't come out right and Didn't mean to imply that more people would be killed than there are already (that too, maybe), but for saying that the crazies would find so many other ways for doing the deed.

And many of the other means--stabbings and bludgeonings--are so up-close and personal. Hand-to-hand combat probably wouldn't have gone well for many of the school shooters, like the fifteen year old girl who did the recentt one at the Christian school. And without a drivers' license, she might have had trouble with vehicular homicide. Arson might have worked. Australia, with tight gun laws, has had mass murders--mostly family affairs. When the victims are asleep, you can clobber them all with something.

More than 1,000 people, including women and children, have been killed in Syria as its new Islamist rulers clash with loyalists of the toppled Assad regime, marking one of the country’s most violent episodes since conflict began there 14 years ago.

Horrible to see that Pennsylvania's Govenor has been firebombed with his family in thier home. Gov. Shapiro was thought to be a potential running mate for VP Kamala Harris. No one was hurt. The perp has been arrested.

Henrry Josue Villatoro Santos, a 24-year-old illegal migrant and accused gang kingpin from El Salvador, was nabbed hiding in his mother’s home in Woodbridge, Va.

If anyone is upset that his rights are being violated, please take a look at the weapon he had in posession below.

A while back after yet another US massacre I read about one Texas authoritarian who non jokingly stated that if everyone at the concert had a gun it wouldnt have happened. Question: How many per capita shootings happen every year in any other western country where the general public do not carry guns? How many cops are killed in the UK where most beat cops dont carry firearms compared to the tooled up US? Of course if everybody in the USA can own firearms provided they are not on a nutbar list I think even for domestic complaints a cop has to be packing. Guns dont kill people - insane laws allowing people to carry guns kills people.
