Windows 11 Warning - Hand Microsoft The Keys to Your Life

i got off winblows for the most part when xp was still current, went to mandriva and ran that for couple years, tried ubuntu for a month and hated it, went to debian when it was in, like, version 4 or 5 and haven't looked back

i still have a WinDOZE 98 machine but it's pretty much for playing simcity 2000 and recording audio, that i built in 2007, once that old pile of junk finally goes i don't know what i'll do but i'll probably manage

 

then your problem is you don't know how to use a firewall. get windows, take windows virus scanning out of the whole thing. how? you make a folder exclusion for folder - you guessed it 'c drive.' then you remove all the telemetry. then you get tinywall free firewall and add the rules that you are cool with. you can autoupdate windows. the windows security never scans c drive again. and the firewall works perfectly.

probably more likely when you are getting hangs from telemetry you're getting them from add blockers on firefox while using facebook or another heavy teletry website which does do type logging to predict your search strategy for the sake of advertising. what was yesterday's malware is todays basic web programming. don't blame microshaft

 

I'm at the stage where I don't care anymore and I just don't do what I don't want to do such as pay for things. I've got a Chromebook which is great and so Google knows all about me and I'm actually interested to see what Windows 11 is like although I don't have anything to hide. I have an external hard drive which I decided to use because laptops kept breaking when I was living on the road.

 

^ Yup. I have a Chromebook too and that's a whole other rant. Every time i wake it up it's stuck on some stupid random 'app is not responding' screen. And I just love how it punishes me with a nag screen on boot because of developer mode. Heaven forbid you install an app outside of PlayStore. Also tablet mode gaming is aggravating and broken because of touch gestures...

Anyway, yeah, I'm too damn tired to fight Microsoft and Google anymore. At one point I was running a Microsoft blacklist on my router and I kept having to go in and disable it because some damn program needed another runtime library or something, or someone needed to download the OS installation tool. It's always something, it's always a frustrating cat and mouse endless chase. At least Microsoft and Google aren't looking to steal your identity like someone PRETENDING to be Microsoft. I just can't trust small third party security the same way, free or $10. You can't trust their security or intentions.

 

Linux and BSD, the last safe havens. And even there you must be wary of the software you install and use. In particular, web browsers.

Hmm, yes. But they WILL rat you out to the government, if you act naughty enough. In China it doesn't even require much, when they already put you on a government watch list. Graciously aided by Microsoft and Google themselves to figure out who you are, so they don't have to lose their business in the region by covering for you.

This is why I don't like it, when systems like these are erected. Once you have a system like this running, all it takes is for the elections to go wrong just once (or a revolution), and you'll have a regime with full access to a complete, full featured tracking and surveillance system that they can use against their citizens to oppress them.

 

China is an entirely different can of shit worms. Western companies like Google track you to sell you stuff. Western governments tract you to make sure you abide laws and pay taxes. China's agendas cover another level of evil that don't even compare to the west. Genocide, supporting Russia, practicing a Taiwan invasion, two faced lies and deception on every level, instigating world war 3...

 

If any of the members of this forum are interested in making the switch to a Linux distro but doesn't know how just say something. One of this forum members that is a Linux user will be able to help you. Also most distros have their own user forums. I would avoid Ubuntu as I understand it was bought by Microsoft. Mint is a good choice for first time users. For a look at what's out there check out distrowatch.com If there is a big interest we can start a new thread on switching.

 

afaik canonical are in a partnership with microdump to provide Linux backend/interface systems for winblows e.g. winsucks subsystem for linux, but are not outright owned by microshit.

even still ubuntu's worth avoiding mainly because it's a pain in the ass t ouse and the default ui is a hot mess. debian with xfce/lxde/trinity desktop FTW.

 

Mirosoft has become an intrusive piece of crap company!

 

I recently installed Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE-6). It is much easier to install that any previous Linux Mint version and it is VERY fast. Has never crashed. Only issue: I haven't got it to print with my HP mini-laser printer. I have Linux Mint 22 on my backup PC that prints perfectly with the printer. (I've been using various Linux Mint versions since Linux Mint 17)

 

Still using win 10 atm, but stepping over to linux(mint)............thanks to some people on this site

Win 11 is very heavy on pc(ram/processor).............same bs as vista was.
