"Let young mothers who have only made only one serious mistake go back to school and have a chance of happiness." WTF, it's ALWAYS on the women? Drink more Kook-aid.
Thank You for the comment, but I can't follow your second sentence. My whole point is that some co called Christians abandon their daughters who make a mistake, and condemn their daughter and child to a life of life of poverty. If These states want to serve their populations, have them guarantee adoptive parents, and let the girl get an education in order to thrive.
The hyper religious folks especially men have no business legislating abortion for women I grew up in a Midwestern state in the 50s and the only available form of birth control was condoms…only they really weren’t available because a predominant religion frowned on them. Guess what….teen pregnancies were rampant in my high school with severe impacts on both sexes. What a mess. And unfortunately the same people talking about banning abortion also have made forays into banning birth control. I got a vasectomy 40 years ago after we had our family to take the burden of birth control off my wife and have never been sorry. So come on guys, take responsibility for your own body, shut the *#*# about abortion and leave the women to make their own choices about their body.
As I have mentioned before. This is not going to be a rich suburban pretty white girl problem. These babies are going to born into poverty, poor health, no education and crime in the inner cities by the mothers that can least afford to care for them - so the problem perpetuates. There's no increased funding for child care, Medicaid, SNAP (the whopping $155/mo...), housing, Welfare, education....this whole thing is going to blow up in their face. Yes, they shouldn't have gotten pregnant, but is the solution punishing the child? True...nobody understands how much teen pregnancy there was and how it messed up their lives.....I know all about that - I have two sisters that were teen mothers - one, my mother sent away to a Catholic 'school' where they more or less snatched the baby from her at birth and sold it off with Catholic Charities, the other - kept it and lived in poverty and shame for years after that teen marriage blew up shortly after the birth. Good luck buying condoms in a small town then - there was the one drug store where the same pharmacist filled your parent's prescriptions - they were hidden behind the counter and you had to ask for them....like you were some criminal or sex maniac.
There were 114,000 children waiting to be adopted in 2021 only 54,200 were adopted. In 2022, almost 214,000 children entered the system. 49% of those adopted are white, the average age of those waiting to be adopted is 8, 60% of those adopted wait 2 to 5 years, some are never adopted.
My son and his wife have been trying to adopt for over six years. You cannot adopt a white American infant for less than $100k - OR everyone wants an open adoption....here, you raise the child and roll the dice that they don't want her back....or you get problem children that have been abused, or taken from their parents - no, there are no orphanages with rows of sweet little babies waiting for someone to come pick one out... Now that they are 35, they are officially bad parent material and have aged out of the system. The only place they can adopt a very young child today is Thailand, which adopts out maybe 150 kids a year.... So that's the adoption deal....I'm not kidding about the money....they have $45k into it already ...
I meant it only as how difficult it is to adopt and what a backdoor racket it all is.....what shit they have been through. My friend Tom is a staunch Catholic and I admire his strong faith....but his politics are so swayed ONLY by the whole abortion thing... "well, there well be more infants to adopt..." Maybe. But not likely the ones that get adopted.... Why punish the poor children...
Yes. In my state it still is, and I've seen the disgusting cruelty and rights violations when forced birthers get their way.
