Well, listening to music playlists on youtube absolutely sucks ass now. When a super loud 2 minute ad starts in the middle of a song and you have to run to the computer to hit skip when it lets you.

That's the end of that fun, I guess.

Dont give up yet, ublock and addblocker for YT still work, just keep turning them off and on again, watch one add then turn em on again. I had no problems since my last post.:D

Again YT are still just testing the grounds atm(premium)..................dont know about the future, money grabbin f..........

I am talking about pc/laptop, dont get any blockers working on my smartphone for YT, but i rarely use my phone for YT or private interwebz stuff. And i am in the EU/NL, maybe that makes a difference

Yeah, there's no rhyme or reason, I'm pausing and unpausing adblock, somedays they work. Sometimes adblock doesn't work on firefox but does on Chrome, sometimes the other way around. Sometimes it's working on one computer and not another...

    Hello WinAmp my old friend,
    I'm collecting MP3's again.

I still use google/duckduckgo as a browser wich already blocks a lot and just have add blocker(YT) and ublock installed as apps on that. YT bothers me every so much time, i turn it off and watch one add, then turn them on again.

I have a huge collection of music/movie cd/dvd s(still buying now and then, like to browse shops for deals), wich i can always rip back into my pc/share. I dont mind paying but i like something i can touch, you use to buy a game/music(cd/dvd) wich you own. Today everybody is streaming/download/licence, service gone........everything gone.

Here's a new to me nag message on a new to me laptop...

I got this ASUS laptop and used it for a few days when I got this nag message ~"your battery has been at 100% for too many days, recommend 80% charge... install 'My ASUS' app to manage battery...". I was like OK whatever, lithium ion batteries have been around for decades and this news to me, I guess they last longer if only charges to 80%. So I go to get the app and of course they want you to create an account and give up a page of personal info, which nearly sends me into a rage but I see there's a 'skip all this bullshit' at the bottom. Now I have the damn app installed and managing the charge to maintain 80%. Why the hell isn't this just a BIOS option if it's so damn important anyway? Huh? Riddle me that!

Wouldn't you know it, the very next day we lose power for 6 hours. Oh great, no power and this thing is at 80% instead of 100% right when I need it. I have other toys, Chromebook and phones so it wasn't a huge deal. So guess what this laptop does now when I turn it on. It gives me a nag message about the battery being set to only charge to 80%!? ~"click here for settings or remind me later". None of these stupid nags ever have a 'don't fucking remind ever again' button. Heaven forbid they stop interfering with your day to data mine and nag the piss out of you. Jesus, this shit is stupid!

I'm not sure whether it's the same issue but in terms of car batteries - I mean for electric cars, the battery packs - they shouldn't be allowed to discharge to less than 5%. If allowed to discharge to less than 5% or to charge to over 80%, I've heard on motoring programs that the battery life may be compromised.
Still; I agree that there's too much button-clicking required for something that should just happen.

^ 5%, IDK? I didn't think deep cycle marine batteries were even supposed to go that low. Lead acid batts are a total different beast for sure.

Apologies. I wasn't clear in my previous post regarding which battery I was referring to and also, I left out "n't" off should (should've written shouldn't), which conveyed a whole wrong meaning.

I remember when media and game commercials used to say 'OWN it now on this' or 'BUY it now on that'. Now all I hear is 'WATCH it now on this' or 'PLAY it now on that'.

You will own nothing and be happy.

    Subscription junkies, are you happy?

If Google, Amazon, Apple, Intel, Nvidia, etc are so special, why don't they come up with free WiFi coffee for everyone, WiFi life preservers to prevent drowning, and WiFi "Find All the Missing Children".

Reading through this thread, I’ve seen many rants about YouTube. I highly recommend Brave browser for websites where ads are a big problem. Not only will it block all the ads on YouTube and let the videos play, you can save the videos for later playback.

I primarily use Safari on my iPad but when I find sites that are obnoxiously covered with ad, I’ll switch to Brave.

After spending most of two weeks trying to solve the problem of BOTH of my computers randomly freezing, I discovered that my Amazon Basics wireless mouse was generating random errors. It affected every version of Linux Mint: 20.3, 21.3, LMDE-6, XFCE, MATE, . . .. When I realized that the only thing common to both computers was my VERY old mouse, I tried using a new mouse: END OF PROBLEM.

It turns out that the inside of my older mouse had accumulated about 7 years of dust and lint in it. After figuring out how to open it up and clean out the inside with Qtips and rubbing alcohol, it works as good as new.

I heard about Brave browser but there was some kind of crypto function...
and I'm out, I'm done, I'm fucking gone as soon as I hear 'crypto'. I fucking despise everything about crypto.

Crypto is nothing but an evil tool for the douchiest of greedy douche bags; the sickest pedos, terrorists, murderers, deadly drug makers, war funding communists, organized criminals, ransomware hackers, cyber criminals, Ponzi scamming, billions thieving scum... If you invest or promote crypto, you are supporting the worst of the worst evil bastards on this planet. North Korea alone has stolen billions with crypto scams. Fuck crypto to hell! It's an ethical and environmental disaster, anarchistic pyramid scheme delusional fantasy based on greed and ignorance...

Ugh, fuck, what were we talking about?

Brave, OK so people are complaining that the adblock functionality keeps breaking. Like everything else. Like New Pipe was a great app for a brief flash in time before the servers were taken down.
