personally i dont know anyone who isnt guilty of concerning themselves with their appearence once in a while, if you wanna rock the dreadlocks whoever you are, go for it. try promoting individualism and independence instead of the negative things you find so easy to take down man, it generates alot more of the good stuff.

I'd personally see it as a compliment if people copied a certain something from me, whether clothing style, hair style or whatever. Obviously they like it a lot, so much they want it too. Nothing wrong with that. Of course, if any one person copies everything off one other, that's annoying... you know, the groupie kinda thing... but in general, I would say imitation is a form of flattery.

WOW, some of you people are just plain old idiots. It really rocks my boat to see how many people have something to say. Hey guess what; I could give two shits about what you have to say, and nothing you say is gonna change the way I think. I'm 27 years old my parents ARE FULL BLOWN HIPPIES. So don't give be all this bullshit that I'am a racist, close-minded, ignorant bastard. now that sounds pretty close-minded to me. Don't tell me you guys don't think "what a fool", when you see some white guy, or girl for the matter all dressed up in gangster attire. I don't know where all of you folks live, but I'm in the U.S. and theres a thing called freedom of speech. Back to white folks having dreadlocks, americas whole history is based on stealing black culture. Black face minstrely is what set american theater apart from all others and gave america its cultural identity. Every form of protest is persecuted, then ridiculed, then copied, and eventually watered down and co-optioned into white america. I' am sorry but you people are wrong, regardless of what you have to say about the celtics, man that is complete crap. Yea it is real sad that some blacks don't relize the significance of dreads, but its even worse for a white person to come up saying "its just a hairstyle", or "my ancestors were white and wore them too, so its just as much mine as yours", please shut up. White people get so scared when we relize we can't claim something. Now we want dreads, and we want to defend it you all want to defend it saying, "our people wore it too, thousands of years ago". Don't march in the army if you gun is loaded with the wrong type of ammunition......wake up and realize where you stand and who is next to you. We are a sad people, we need to realize that and wake up. Tired of this

You aren't aren't much of a cultural person are you? Did you know your country was nicknamed the Melting Pot? Your parents aren't much of the hippy folk if they aren't bringing you up to love everyone for their personalities, not for their physical image. Is that a barricade for you? Shallow is a word that I can come up with. But I don't shoot names at people I don't know. I just assume silently.

You for one should be proud of the diversity of our culture. No where in the freakin rule book of life does it say we have to dress a certain way or believe in a certain thing. We are humans. We make choices and do things to ourselves to represent or to explore certain things. What a sin.

If you have such an enlightened view on life that us lesser people don't digest then expose it. Pretty damn sad too to flaunt your own race. Rofl.

What do you think everyone follows in their parents foot steps? I don't think so. My parents are very beautiful people, and I love them for loving everyone, based on nothing. But growing up I can see right through the hippie image. You know you can try to make a difference, but look at how warped the world is now days, you know you will not suceed in striving for peace. Hell if I would have followed or turned out like my parents I probaly would have died from a drug overdose, or been shot by a Bush promoter or something. Yea sadly the white race, is mostly a disgrace, we're fucking mongrols.

Seeing through things doesn't mean looking at the negatives. Everything in life has its ups and downs, its a game of acceptance.

I have so much to ask you, oh wise one. I just cut my hair very short recently, and I was predominately of african and native american heritage, so what does that change me to now? and My favorite color is green, so, I was wondering what type of music goes best with green so i don't look stupid.

how does hairstyle = religion or music = color?

under your philosophy, only african american people should be allowed to use cotton in modern day, and germans should only be able to use the theory of relativity..

    your a dumbass

ok...here's my look at image-making...we all have an image that others produce when they see us. no arguing on that. people see you and what you look like. some of them will wager a guess at what you're all about based on that image. some people think that others' images are self consciously produced, but i think that's usually just the judger projecting his/her set of beliefs on the innocent person who has a stereotypable image, perhaps by chance or (god forbid) by sincere personal taste. if a kid has a dreads, he or she isn't any stupider than you and probably is concsious of both negative judgements and positive. they've taken the gutsy move to dread up anyway. someone dedicated to their dreads often cares about them in a personal way, and that care and love can't come through in an image. soooooo, we can all look the same, or we can applaud diversity. c'mon. re-read your post and ask yourself if you're speaking with love and tolerance.
    peace

i don't think that...honestly. i try to get a look at a person's eyes and take a guess at if he/she's afraid like most people or if they're approachable.

as for stealing from black culture..... tough nuts. some white people don't wanna listen to country western or classical music, dress in inconspicuous khakis and a nice shirt or jeans and a tshirt, speak in a midwestern slangless dialect.... also, this is america, and here many white people have mixed heritages with few cultural traditions to hold onto. pop culture steals from black culture, and sadly, pop culture is all most people have left. i can't believe i'm replying to someone who has posted 4 times and just seems to be here to piss people off. have a good day

it's not my favorite hairstyle, but the way i figure it, the fact that white people CAN get dreads is a sign that there's nothing wrong with the style. it's not like it's un-natural or wrong or anything. it's just hair.
