I am not a big TV watcher, but I have fallen madly in love with House M.D. Anyone else watch it? I guess it may just be my odd obsession with medicine and hospitals, but I love this show. It makes me almost sad that I haven't got the patience to go to med school. I just love how House is such an ass, but he's so smart. It's so rare to see something on television that makes you think.
I agree, there is finally a television show that has a smart character that isn't... well... it isn't so painfully obvious that he is being made to sound smart. He is just an incredible actor who pulls the role off very well. I like that the sub-plots in the story aren't unrealistic, and I like that each show obviously has a great deal of research put into it. ...the only thing that bothers me about the show is the black guy (I'm horrible with names) is always breaking into people's houses, it just makes no sense and doesn't help the story line.
I don't know his name, either, don't feel bad, haha. Yeah, I always wondered, he gets into their houses to get like stuff from the house that could be causing the illness, but how did he get in there? It never shows whether anyone gave him permission. Doctors must have to take a burgulary 101 class in pre-med.
He breaks into the houses... if you remember the episode when House was explaining how he put that team of doctors together the black guy found out that he was only asked to work there because of his background, rather than his grades and test scores from school. He had been in trouble with the police for breaking and entering into some houses as a teen so House thought he'd be the one who could do all the "risky" things. So, it really makes no sense because in reality doctors would ask the patient if they had certain things in their house, if it was not conclusive to a diagnosis, then they'd most likely bring in the police and order a search warrent.... or something.
I'm not sure if I saw that episode. I think I jumped into it a few shows in. I think it would make more sense and make me a little less apprehensive about getting deathly ill if they would at least get permission before they went into their houses. I can't recall an episode where anyone got angry for them breaking and entering. But, hey, gives kids with bad pasts hope that their burgulary skills will help them succeed in the medical profession. Haha.
I haven't watched this yet, as it looked like it wasn't real. Am I wrong? Is it about REAL medical conditions, or only weird, unheard of things?
I'm almost sure the conditions are very real. Rare, but real. I'm morbidly obsessed with medicine and hospitals and such, so I will do some research on the next few episodes and see how much research they have done. But the show is very believable, aside from the fact that they break into houses for clues of the source of the illness.
All the conditions they have on are real and they have a great research department, that's for sure. All the symptoms, terms, responses they have/do are completely realistic.
Yeah, this show is awesome. I especially love when we see what's actually going on inside the sick person's body.
I like it a lot. I'm so happy to see Robert Sean Leonard on a regular basis, I think he's great. (and kinda on the cute side lol) I agree, Dr House is a total ass and I think that's what really makes the show. I like this show better than I like ER ... this show has more humour.
