Lin Wood is in the list of Trump cohorts who were nearly indicted.

Wood retired to try to save himself from disbarment.

Putting aside the war between political parties, there's the future of American justice to consider......and the Republicans have to start doing that.

If people are allowed to simply ignore Congressional subpoenas, a large part of our court & justice system goes by the wayside and other principles would surely follow. If you are subpoenaed and don't think the action was valid, you go to the damn hearing and make your case; you don't simply to decide to ignore it.

To put it another way: can you imagine what Republicans would do and say if a Democrat.....for any reason.....decided to simply disregard a Congressional subpoena? Good gosh, the GOP outrage throughout the land and the charges of "treason" would dominate the headlines for as long as they could keep it going.

Navarro seems highly protective of whatever he knows about Trump's plan to overthrow the 2020 election. It's been rumored that he was involved in connecting Trump's desire to overthrow the election with the riot at the Capitol.

A connection between Trump and the riot still hasn't been well documented. Trump did know about the march to the Capitol which wasn't a formal event and had no permit. It's not known if Trump came up with that idea himself or if someone like Navarro was involved in telling Trump to tell his supporters to march to the Capitol.

Trump knew before the riot started that some of his supporters had weapons. In spite of that, he still wanted them at his 'Stop The Steal' rally at the Ellipse and told his followers to march to the Capitol, where thousands of them had no place to stay legally. He let the riot continue for hours while doing nothing tangible to stop it.

It's an example of Trump setting up a volatile situation in such a way that it's difficult to hold him accountable, similar to a mob boss who is behind 'accidents' that happen to those who don't cooperate. It involves Trump's inaction as much as his actions.

It's an example of the foolishness and self-centredness of Trump.

He assumed that all of those people loved him.

Anyone could have sneaked in to that crowd with weapons and could have taken a shot at Trump.

The same goes for the riot at the Capitol. Rogue elements not involved with Trump and his supporters could have infiltrated the Capitol the day of the riot and inflicted terrible damage, worse than what was done by Trump's supporters.

It raises the concern about Trump as president being duped at the national and international level by rogue elements that could inflict damage on the U.S. by taking advantage of his shallow-minded narcissism.

Someone could be spotted among Trump's supporters with a nuclear briefcase and Trump would say, 'Let him in. He's not going to hurt me'.

After he was convicted of contempt, Navarro said he was willing to go to jail to settle the issue.

He talks like the there's decision he can make whether or not he will go to jail. He's already been convicted. He could face up to two years in jail, a year for each count for which he was convicted.

His sentencing is scheduled for January 2024.

The recently convicted Navarro is similar to Wood and numerous other Trump supporters who have gone fringe for Trump in their late years.

    Navarro is 74.

BTW, why was a trade advisor in the Trump administration (Navarro) involved in trying to overthrow an election for him?

Navarro could have appeared before Congress and taken the 5th, like other Trump associates have done.

He wouldn't even do that. He completely snubbed the subpoena.

Navarro didn't produce any evidence that Trump used executive privilege on his behalf. Navarro could have at least tried to obtain an affidavit from Trump. Trump likely wouldn't have given it to him anyway out of fear of implicating himself in crimes related to the 2020 election.

Bannon did the same as Navarro. Bannon was convicted of contempt and sentenced to four months in jail. He's currently appealing the conviction.
