I am lighthearted so my question is what is your favorite film of all time?

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Cool Hand Luke, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, The Last House on the Left, Easy Rider. just to name a few. I couldn't possibly pick only one... and I love everything that Robert Eggers has made. I believe that he is the best filmmaker in the modern industry and will carry the flame from other great filmmakers like Tarantino & Scorsese. The Lighthouse is the greatest movie of the 21st century thus far.

I think I am going to have to watch this one.
And this one I definitely have to watch with my youngest, they love these kinds of films.

I remember living in London at the time when The Long Good Friday was released to much fanfare by critics. There were queues outside cinemas. These days it is not considered to be anymore than good TV.
Conversely, The Wild Bunch was shot to pieces by critics on release, years later it became an enduring classic.

Personally. I think there is just too much being produced now. You can still find some really good things but it is much harder when it's buried under the avalanche of crap out there. With all the streaming sites, some good ones never even see the big screen.

Released in theaters in 1977, George Lucas' little sci-fi film "Star Wars" took the world by storm and has continued to do so even to this day. No other film has made such an impression as this one. Not Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, or even The Godfather. No movie has taken such a prominent place in the world as Star Wars did. Then and now. The movie made a huge indirect impact on my life. Not the movie itself but for the reason I went to see it.

Repo Man, Fear and loathing, Blade Runner, Oh Brother --any Coen Brothers movie, and any David Lynch movie, THX1138, Groundhog Day----these are just a few that I can re-watch ----but since I've been around so long----There are plenty of 30s--40ss that I like but why list them here. Nobody would remember them or be interested in them. Ok--one example: Grapes of Wrath.

I expected the menu to be such a silly little movie and then I watched it and it was really really good The acting also took it over the top. I expected the acting to be sarcastic. it was way more realistic than what I thought it would be.

A classic. If you want to see the real story of the dust bowl, watch the Ken Burns historical series of the dust bowl, it was quite captivating.

I grew up (?) in the area that many, many folks fleeing the south during the dust bowl era came to settle and get work. Went to school with many of the kids of those travelers. They were very obviously poor.

I can remember laughing heartily during the movie--The In laws --way back in the early 70s. Alan Arkin and Peter Falk starred. So--I told number one son--"hey, let's watch the In Laws--it's just hilarious!!! Funny thing--I got about two chuckles out during the movie and now--it really didn't seem funny at all and was very disappointing. Trying to think of why it was so funny to my 32 year old self -----came up empty.:(

    So many....
But you can't go wrong with the 1939 version of Of Mice and Men with Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney Jr.

I have watched Mulholland Drive several times. One of the strangest flms I have ever seen, but quite watchable.
